A smart, thoughtful guide for new grads

I listened to this as someone helping my younger sibling get ready for college, and it really hit the right notes. It covered things I hadn’t even thought to bring up—like how to actually handle health insurance or find campus mental health resources. The roommate tips and budgeting sections were especially eye-opening and easy to pass along. Great mix of advice that feels relevant without talking down to the listener.

Great advice for young adults and their parents

I am a father to children in their early twenties, late teens, and a few that are pre-puberty. I worry about all of them. I was happy to listen to this comprehensive 2 in 1 collection of practical advice for late teens and young adults. There is a ton of great information, and I am going to make it required for my teens, and suggest that my older kids give it a listen, as well.

On a need to know basis; this is a NEED to KNOW!

"Adulting Life Skills" is a refreshing and insightful guide for young adults stepping into the complexities of college life and beyond. This well written guide cleverly combines essential life skills with practical advice, making it an comprehensive resource for anyone transitioning into adulthood. Its not preachy or too Mom sounding.
Lyons captures the essence of the freshman experience with humor and relatability, addressing everything from time management and budgeting to handling relationships and self-care. Her engaging storytelling style makes the content not only informative but also enjoyable to listen to, ensuring that listeners remain engaged throughout.
One of the standout features of this audiobook is Lyon's emphasis on empowerment. She encourages listeners to embrace challenges and view them as opportunities for growth. As she states, “Success is not about being perfect; it’s about being resilient and learning from every experience.” This perspective is particularly valuable for young adults navigating the uncertainties of their first year in college. Sometimes learning what not to do or say is as good as what you should do or say!
Additionally, Lyons offers practical tools and actionable steps, making it easy for listeners to implement the skills discussed. A memorable quote from the book encapsulates this: “Adulting is less about knowing everything and more about being willing to learn and adjust along the way.” This statement serves as a comforting reminder that growth is a continuous journey, and it’s perfectly okay to seek help and ask questions.
Overall, this Audible book is a must-listen for anyone preparing for the transition to college life or adulthood. Whether you’re a parent or a freshman or just looking to refine your life skills, this guide will inspire confidence and provide the tools necessary to thrive.
