About this listen

In the tumultuous currents of modern life, Against the Waves emerges as a beacon of hope, advocating for a return to the divine order established by God's creation. This thought-provoking book addresses the disorientation and moral decay of our times by calling for a revival of Christian principles that once shaped the bedrock of Western civilization.

Jon Harris eloquently argues for the reclamation of natural relationships, strong community bonds, and a life aligned with scriptural truths. Drawing from historical lessons, he critiques modern liberalism, the proposition nation, managerial elitism, and other ideologies that have led society away from its spiritual moorings, presenting a compelling case for why we must return to the fundamentals of faith, virtue, and service to God and neighbor.

Against the Waves is not just a critique; it's a roadmap for those yearning for truth in an era of confusion. It challenges Christians to stand firm against the cultural tides, advocating for a life of divine purpose over secular novelty. Jon even explores strategies considered unconventional like returning to liturgical calendars or nullifying tyrannical laws emanating from centralized authorities.

The book provides:

  • A Clear Vision: A hopeful vision of how Christian principles can restore order and meaning to our lives.
  • Historical Insight: Lessons from the past that highlight the consequences of straying from divine order.
  • Practical Guidance: Steps for individuals and communities to cultivate virtue and resist the pressures of a liberal society.

Whether you're questioning the foundations of modern society or seeking to deepen your faith in a secular world, Against the Waves offers wisdom, courage, and inspiration for living out Christian values with conviction.

A must read for all Christians in America!

I’ve followed Jon’s work for several years now, and this is the third book of his that I’ve read, but I must say that it is the most impactful and important of his contributions to the emerging Christian movement that, Lord willing, will continue for many more years and lead to reformation that revives many hearts that have grown cold and cynical. Concise and compelling, each chapter stands on its own with practical steps each person can take as well as warnings they must heed. Encouraging yet not idealistic, “Against the Waves” inspires and equips. I can’t recommend this book highly enough - get it and read it right now!

I was very plesantly surprised, excellent book!

I drop in on Jon livestream on YouTube from time to time. When I saw that he had released a new book I decided to give it a listen. I very glad I did. I have a long flight and was looking for a new book to listen to. What I wasn't expecting is how well I liked the book. I purchased the Kindle version as well. Jon own description of the book is right on "Against the Waves calls for a return to Christian principles as a remedy to the moral decay and disorientation of modern society. Jon Harris critiques contemporary ideologies like liberalism and managerial elitism, advocating for a revival of faith, virtue, and community bonds. Offering both historical insights and practical guidance, the book answers questions like “What is a Nation?” and “Why are there hardly any good leaders today?” while challenging Christians to know who they are and what they should be doing socially."

I send a note to Eric Metaxas asking him to have Jon on his show or even a Socraties in the City event. It's that good!
