About this listen

Cold-blooded murder heats up Agatha's summer holiday! Agatha travels to Cyprus, only to contend with her estranged fiance, an egregious group of truly terrible tourists, and a string of murders. . .

In this sixth entertaining outing Agatha leaves the sleepy Cotswold village of Carsely to pursue love - and finds a murderer. Spurned at the altar, she follows her fleeing fiancé James Lacey to Cyprus, where, instead of enjoying the honeymoon they'd planned, they witness the killing of an obnoxious tourist in a disco. Intrigue and a string of murders surround the unlikely couple, in a plot as scorching as the Cypriot sun!

I have enjoyed the previous titles tremendously, but not this. Many times throughout the book, I asked if this was written by the author. It felt more like a story on history and geography of Cyprus, as there were more description on these than developing the crime. It focused too much on the dysfunctional and rather toxic relationship between James and Agatha too. Personally, I feel there was very little done to keep the murder mystery going.
Penelope was amazing, as before. I just did not enjoy the story much.

Hardly any detective work!

Not the strongest storyline in the series, bogging occasionally in guide-book style local historical detail, but entertaining nevertheless with Penelope Keith delivering an impeccable and delightfully handled performance as always.

Agatha goes on "holiday"...

I love all the Agatha Raisin by Beaton, but mostly because they are narrated by Penelope Keith. She puts on a truly wonderful performance. I bought most of the series because I like listening to her :)))
Many thanks

Penelope Keith you rock :)

Now in May 2023 I locked out of my Audible account and when I locked back in I've found TO MY HORROR that all the audiobooks stories have been changed? Why is that???
I MUCH PREFER THE previous versions!
It had so much more caracter than these!
surely Audible must give us a choice if we prefer the previous versions or this new version!
I'm really not happy with this!
Mrs Bloxby caracter has changed completely in this new version!
There was so much more humor in the previous version!

Why did the Agatha Raisin audiobooks change??
