About this listen
The People of Traenah faced a terrible disaster. The comet was coming. It would certainly strike at a predictable time and place. There could be no question about that. The immutable laws of the universe demanded it.
The approaching cataclysm silenced wars and joined bitter enemies together to find a way out. A way to somewhere else. Anywhere, else, where they could survive.
Amid this crisis, hard science and mystical religion battled for the soul of a modern society. Some chose to escape certain death, others to embrace it as a moment of supernatural transformation.
The sudden appearance of a strange alien offering rescue only served to harden their resistance.
Xenophobic, and warlike, they would prove an unusual challenge for the Fleet.
And David Powell's first cruise in command of Onizuka would not go at all as he had planned.

Story
I’m a space pirate, and that means I’m used to finding myself in some pretty hairy situations. But getting abducted and imprisoned inside a remote experimental lab? Yeah, I think this takes the cake. Then there’s my neighbor in the cell next door, Xavier. Despite being a smoking hot alien, he’s a brooder with a pronounced contempt for pirates like me. But that distaste can’t hide the look in his eyes when I’m forced to shower in front of him.

Story
After a terrible shipwreck near a deserted island, rescue seems impossible for Del, a stowaway street rat; Etenia, a merchant’s daughter; and Lathan, a retired dragon rider—especially when there’s a kraken lurking offshore, hungry for their only possible means of escape: dragon eggs they’re protecting. Yet the kraken answers to the even deadlier Qapira, a forgotten race sleeping deep in the ocean. No setback will stop them now that they’ve awakened. To survive, they must triumph over the people of Pothena, and they will destroy anyone who stands against them.

Story
The year is 2108, and the North American Commonwealth is bursting at the seams. For welfare rats like Andrew Grayson, there are only two ways out of the crime-ridden and filthy welfare tenements: You can hope to win the lottery and draw a ticket on a colony ship settling off-world...or you can join the service. With the colony lottery a pipe dream, Andrew chooses to enlist in the armed forces for a shot at real food, a retirement bonus, and maybe a ticket off Earth.

Story
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

How to Accidentally Cause an Interspecies Conflict
I love this story because it's an alien invasion story told from the other species perspective, and they're trying to interpret the actions of the "invading" humans without being able to communicate. It's fantastic!
