About this listen

Teenage Odette DuJardin and her family suffer under the repressive Vichy regime in Nazi occupied France. Across the Atlantic, seventeen year old Dan Palazzo struggles to exorcise his demons and escape the poverty of post depression New York City. Twenty years later the lives of two young adults collide as they attempt to unravel their mysterious bond and discover their connection to the past. Follow these entangled souls, caught in twisted passageways of time and see how they navigate the waves of war and how their souls endure, inseparable.

Excerpt:

Dan and Maureen were wonderful together, but Tommy and Anne topped them. They topped everyone. As Basie kept churning out his driving rhythm, Anne and Tommy's dance became more frenetic, more acrobatic. The crowd of dancers parted giving them a wider berth. Anne's limber, lithe body bent and bounced and twisted. Her hair twirled. Her face glowed. Perspiration glistened on her bare shoulders making her creamy skin radiate. Tommy spun her away from him; she twirled back jumped into his arms. He flung her around his back and flipped her over his left arm. Her dress flew up over her head. Her body was extraordinary. Tommy knew how to bring out the best in her. His timing was flawless. She slid under his legs, popping up on the other side. She pressed her back against his, then he reached back grabbed her hands and flung her over his back. The crowd went crazy. As the band reached its crescendo Anne was lost in the music, entranced, her eyes glazed, her lips parted, her face flushed and aglow.

Jimmy watched from the sideline. He couldn't take his eyes off her. He hid it, but not well. He loved Anne. Anne knew it. Tommy knew it. They all knew it, ignored it, dismissed it, hoped it would go away like an uninvited guest

Reviews

The romance in this book is gorgeous and the emotions expressed by the characters are very strong, especially the love and longing for each other.-Shaz-Goodreads

The story intermingles the lives of two different generations of war-torn lovers, who share an inexplicable bond. The writing was such that it made many of the combat situations come alive and I was able to relate strongly to the characters.-Terry-Goodreads

I did not want to finish the tale but I could not *not* know. It made my stomach burn, literally, as I rolled to the last forty pages or so. This is not a romance in the traditional sense. It is a condensed epic tale, spanning generations.-Katie Kotemug-Romance Reviews Magazine

Highly recommend to anyone who loves a great romance while also reading about how the human spirit can survive, and even thrive, during hard times.-Anne Smith-Goodreads

It's a beautifully written story. Each chapter builds the story of Odette and Don and you just have to keep turning the page. Well done.-P Bee-Goodreads
