TWO NURSES, ONE PANDEMIC, A TEST OF LOVE AND LOSS.
Amelia and Sophia are two best friends living and working in Boston, Massachusetts. They are intensive care unit nurses at Beacon Hill Medical Center–trained to care for the most critical patients in the hospital. To balance the stress of their day-to-day work, they love going ‘out on the town.’ They’re always down to have some fun. Whether it’s Amelia and Dan having date nights, or the three of them singing to music at the local bar, life is seemingly too good to be true.
However, the girls are suddenly faced with the rumor of a… global pandemic? No, it can’t be so. Can it? They assume it’ll just be another common cold. Wash your hands, that sort of thing. No big deal. But… COVID hits. And it hits hard. Swooping in, spreading like wildfire.
Every single patient admitted to their ICU is diagnosed with COVID. They get sick. Extremely sick. Requiring ventilators, sedation, paralytics, proning. To Amelia and Sophia, the unit feels like a war zone. The death toll is tallying up. Nurses, layered in PPE, are left to hold patient’s hands as families say their goodbyes over video-call screens. It’s lonely. Devastating. The silence of death is beyond deafening.
In the general public, people everywhere are forced to quarantine in the safety of their homes–state officials’ desperate attempts to slow the spread. And as Sophia’s luck would have it, she meets her ‘dream guy’ right before the lockdown. Can she juggle the demands of the ICU, while newly dating Leo? She’ll have to navigate her socially-distant relationship and the complex family dynamics that come with it. COVID pushes everyone to their breaking point; Sophia and Amelia will be tested like never before.
All We Had is a story of love, loss, and perseverance. Of leaning on one another through some of the most challenging work days a nurse can imagine. And when the pandemic hits too close to home, they’ll have to pick each other up to make it through.
