About this listen

Hadley Hunter never saw herself as mayor of Moonstone Bay. Now she has the job, and it seems to be a whole lot of squabbling neighbors and missing foul-mouthed birds instead of the action and adventure she was expecting. All of that changes when a local worker for one of the hotels calls in to report seeing a child wandering in the road in the middle of nowhere. Both the woman and child are missing when units go looking.

Sheriff Galen Blackwood cant find a record of a missing child. He can't find a path to follow for the missing woman. All he can find is a spit of desert in the middle of the island and no way across.

Moonstone Bay has a lot of secrets. When Hadley starts digging on this one, she's confused. How is it that nobody has any information on this specific bit of land? Why has nobody ever bothered to ask? Why is it that everybody just accepts the land can't be crossed?

Hadley smells a conspiracy, and she may be right. The problem is, there's nobody around to confirm or deny anything she believes.

That, of course, means her mind is running wild. She's going to take all of her friends along for the ride, too, whether they want to be dragged into this mess or not.

Some secrets are kept for a reason. When this one blows up, they all might regret it if they live that long that is.

Amanda M. Lee Delivers Again

I absolutely love this author. She puts out amazing books at an almost unbelievable pace. The fact that characters from all of her series frequently crossover using unique plot lines that I fit each of diverse cast of characters makes everything she writes that much more compelling.

The Most Interesting Book in this series so Far!!

I love the illusion dimension and how the Elementals are working more and more together. I can't wait for the next book... 2025 seems so far away!

really best book of series

I really liked where she went with this story and for once Hadley whined about 95% less which was very much needed.

Love Amanda M. Lee stories

But, I have trouble making it through books narrated by Angela Clark. She's very monotone. It sounds like ver early AI. I'm sure she's a lovely person, but, I'm switching to Kindle for books that list her as the narrator.

Whiny voices

Really annoying whiny voice. I found it hard to listen to. Normally, I love all her stories, but Hadley’s voice is just too whiny.

excellent

Hadley is settling in as her role as Mayor with Galen's mom. A mysterious area of the island, a powerful supernatural combine to bring the "four" and "beast" to solve this riddle and discover the disappearances of residents past and present. Angel Clark is the perfect narrator for this series. Ms Lee has another winner.

Great Plot

This installment is so well-done. The story is complex and fascinating. I love Hadley’s sense of self and growing powers.

Speed up narration for listenability!! Great story if you’re just looking for witchy brain candy.

I’ll start by stating that I believe all of the stories of this author’s series were very creative and interesting during the first 15 - 20 Winchester Mystery Series. After that, things become a little cookie cutter and dull, to an audience who is hoping for continued topicality, intrigue, and creativity.

As for the narrator, she is one of the better narrators I have ever heard. Just do yourself and speed up the playback to 1.10 to 1.25. For some reason, the production company slowed her narration down very slowly, which makes her inflection nearly impossible to look past, in order to digest the story.

I’m getting the vibe that this story is perfect for you if you’re in your 20’s (or reminiscing and wishing you were in your 20’s), with model “good looks”, “white” ethnicity” and a life that’s been handed to you.

Honestly these stories aren’t relatable in todays climate unless you’re entitled that way. The biggest problem Hadley has is, on principle, needing to do the opposite of what her boyfriend tells her to do. This feels to be the basis of her identity.

I’m noticing the stories throughout AML’s series keep getting recycled and there are fun new character ideas but they all seem to have the same personality, get into the same shenanigans, and run into villains who LOVE exposition whilst being conquered.

I’m a little over the spoiled brat drop dead gorgeous main character. It this how audiences view themselves? Or is that how they believe they should be treated?
I feel that audiences are too sophisticated
to crave stories like this anymore.

It’s like the author lumped together the original charmed with entitled, bratty, & white women whose men find their entitlement and child-like tantrums sexy…?s (that’s not a thing irl).

Do men actually threaten to “paddle [their girlfriend’s] bottoms blue? Cause.. I’m getting
some Daddy vibes here.
Not kink shaming, but this is NOT the mainstream, nor is this daddy domination thing a healthy attitude in a leading man (at least not leading men who are written the way Gaylen is).

There are other authors out there who offer a heck of a lot more creativity and content, and don’t insult their readers by rewriting the same story over and over again, while claiming each one to be it’s own story.

And if you want to bring kink into it.. do it.
Otherwise having the main man fawn all over
his woman for the explicit reason of sharing mannerisms with little girls everywhere, and then sexually working that into their dynamic, just comes off and massively creepy to me.

That is not the “norm”. There’s nothing wrong with relationships like that, but that is not how most “healthy” relationships are able to actually exist.
Unless both parties agree to go into said relationship with express consent to be this way with each other, why not assume the other person is an adult, and allow them to have and maintain their boundaries?
