Gerlachs Leben ist in Gefahr! Nach einem Date erwacht Kripochef Gerlach verwirrt und mit Erinnerungslücken im Hotel. Seine Begleitung Nora Vestergaard ist offenbar abgereist und reagiert nicht auf seine Anrufe. Irritiert von Blutspuren im Bad, wäscht Gerlach diese fort. Zu spät fragt er sich, ob sie von Nora stammen. Ist ihr etwas zugestoßen? Kurz darauf hat Gerlach einen schweren Autounfall, der sich schon bald als Mordversuch entpuppt. Wegen seiner Verletzungen dienstunfähig, macht er sich im Alleingang auf die Suche nach der verschwundenen Nora. Was er herausfindet, verschlägt selbst dem erfahrenen Ermittler den Atem.
