Editorial reviews

This compilation of Yankees tales would belong in the Baseball Stories Hall of Fame if Cooperstown could boast such a headquarters. Narrator Tony Craine becomes each player in turn as these dozens of individualized stories take off from home plate. The audiobook is organized via an alphabetized list of Yankees personalities spinning their yarns. Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth, and George Steinbrenner all get audio real estate here, each with their own clear heading so listeners can easily skip around. True fans - and they are legion in this league - may already be familiar with some of these funny, dramatic, and inspiring stories, but nothing compares to hearing them come alive in Craine’s youthful performance, as if the tales are being recounted in the dugout.

Interesting

It was hard to follow. Often I wasn't sure who the reader was referring to. Struggled to finish

Interesting but hard to follow

I've been a Yankee fan since the 80's and really looked forward to this reading. As my headline states.. it does have some fun and interesting stories within. However this version at least just doesn't make for a good audio book. It can be very difficult at times to follow from one story to the next or to know who the narrator is referring to. Much of the book is written in a first person account and the narrator seems to have just opened the book and read line for line. Without the pages in front of you to see the story breaks it was too hard to follow along and I found myself losing interest. Maybe it can be redone with a better format for audio.
