About this listen

Nine American Indian stories written by noted Native American author and advocate Zitkala-Su, Red Bird, that are endearing, moving, and sad. A must-listen for all students of American history and literature. Helen Keller’s letter of praise in 1919 serves as the introduction.

What a travesty! The entire recording has Western classical music playing along behind it! Whoever produced this should have known better. A gross disrespect of Native American culture. That's why it's so cheap! Choose different recording! The stories are worth the money.

Western classical music all through the narration!

Between mispronunciation and odd pauses for breaths this is almost unlistenable! Also, it’s strange to me that a book written by a brilliant woman from a woman’s perspective was not narrated by a woman.

Worst narration ever!

I don't know why there is music playing in the background. It gave me anxiety. I decided to read the book instead of listen because its impossible to pay attention to the book with the music in the background. Zitkala-Su is amazing and everyone should read her work but maybe not listen to it via this audiobook.

Why the Music?!
