About this listen

Africa faces a tough choice today – walk or die. The challenges are many: global warming, economic downturns, rapid population growth, etc. And yet because of poor leadership and rampant corruption many African countries are unlikely to get the responsible leaders they so badly need for generations to come. What little resources are available are being squandered, and tribalism and greed are helping to divide the people further and further. It’s an impasse, society at a standstill, and the world can’t do much about it. Or can it? The author argues that the United States maybe can do something to reverse the trend. Just like FIFA (and Europe) was unable to shake itself of Sepp Blatter’s grip on power, and the rampant corruption at football’s world governing body, Africa is unable to rid itself of dictators and the greedy who are leading it down a blind alley – and self-destruction. It will take the long arm of the United States to restore sanity and hope on the African continent. Political Science Politics & Government Africa Sports Leadership
