About this listen

Jessica is the quintessential 1920s wealthy bad girl from Montana with a penchant for running away from home if things don't go her way. As her brother's wedding to the sugary sweet Chastity nears, Jessica grows stir-crazy yet again. This time, however, fleeing south to Wyoming turns out to be much more dangerous than she ever could have predicted. When her brother hires skilled tracker Sleeping Fox to find her and bring her home, her life is forever changed.

Sleeping Fox is a man between worlds - half Blackfoot, with a White mother. Orphaned to the Indian School as a child, he grows up with a chip on his shoulder as wide as the Montana sky. A quiet man, the one thing he is known for in the small town of Wedlock is his skill as a tracker. When the wealthy rancher hires him to find his missing sister, Sleeping Fox bargains for a share of his tribe's ancestral homeland - but ends up with much more in the end.

This is the long-awaited second book in the Montana Brides series but can be listened to as a stand-alone adventure romance. Through the Rocky Mountains, the rodeo circuit, brushes with Prohibition-era gangsters, Russian fur traders, and wild wolves, follow the adventure of a lifetime for two star-crossed lovers from the same town but different worlds.

Totally Captivating

The action never stops in the not so sugary sweet second book in Leslea Tash's Montana Brides series. This time, the bride and her soul mate are totally unexpected and oh so brilliant together. There was some special insights into cultural issues of the era for both Native Americans and women and a lovely message of redemption and transformation inspired by love and understanding.

The narration by Eileen Smith exceeded every expectation: Excellent plus!

What a lovely romance story

An Honest Woman follows Jessica, a rich you g woman with a very independent mind and Sleeping Fox, a Native American who is sent to find her after she escaped on an adventure. I don’t want to spoil the story, but I found myself enjoying following them on their paths a lot, rooting for them and hoping for their safety and destiny. If you want some sweet, feel good love story - look no further.

Eileen Smith did an excellent job narrating!

A Christian Western Romance

This was a long book. The message from this book is prayer and trust in the Lord can result in happiness. Despite the tragedies befallen Jessica and Sleeping Fox they find each other.

The narrator Eileen Smith did a fabulous job of keeping my interest.

Beautiful Story!

This was a story of an independent woman’s journey to find adventure but finds trouble instead. Her brother sends Sleeping Fox, a Native American tracker to find her. These two end up with more that they bargained for.

Eileen Smith is a new narrator for me. I thought she did an amazing job.

An Honest Woman Montana Brides #2

Written by Leslea Tash
Narrated by Eileen Smith

I was provided with an audiobook by the author in exchange for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Montana Brides series by Leslea Tash and picks up right after the ending of the first book. The heroine of this book is the wild sister of the hero from the first book. The hero from this book is a neighbor and occasional contract employee of the hero from the first book.

Trigger warnings - racism towards indigenous peoples, rape - though not detailed.

This second book felt more dramatic and suspenseful than the first. There is a level of tense adventure throughout the story. Sometimes finding the place where we belong and the people we belong with is a difficult road - but it was worth it. This book was closer to a Christian romance than the first - along the lines of Colleen Coble in the vein of historical suspenseful dramatic clean romance with faith based undertones.

Sound quality and narration were solid. 4/5
