Story
Tired of the pace and noise of life near London and longing for a better place to raise their young children, Mary J. MacLeod and her husband, George, encountered their dream while vacationing on a remote island in the Scottish Hebrides. Enthralled by its windswept beauty, they soon were the proud and startled owners of a near-derelict croft house - a farmer’s stone cottage - on “a small acre” of land. Mary assumed duties as the island’s district nurse.

Story
A remarkable true story of adventure, betrayal, and survival set in one of the world's most inhospitable places. In 1906, from atop a snow-swept hill in the ice fields northwest of Greenland, hundreds of miles from another human being, Commander Robert E. Peary spotted a line of mysterious peaks looming in the distance. He called this unexplored realm "Crocker Land". Scientists and explorers agreed that the world-famous explorer had discovered a new continent rising from the frozen Arctic Ocean.

A Must-Listen for Venice Travelers
It goes beyond the typical tourist spots and dives into the hidden gems only locals seem to know about. The recommendations for cafés and bars were spot-on, and I loved the insights into lesser-known churches and museums. It felt like having a personal guide who truly knows and loves the city.

More info than I hoped for
This book was so detailed and full of information. I want to go to Venice even more than before, because I now feel prepared to go. This book tells it like it is in Venice, even about staying on the upper levels of your hotel and why you should. I really enjoyed the information on all the cuisines and must go to places. I feel like I know what to pack, where to stay and what to do. I also downloaded the PDF that comes with this audiobook and it is amazing, full of great photos. Be sure to do that.

Sounds like heaven!
My kids are going on a school trip to Venice in a year and a half so I figured we should brush up on what Venice has to offer. They will have time to explore so this book is great because when listening to it, we were able to come up with a list of items they could check out and do while they are there. I'm jealous that I'm not going but I love that I can gift this type of experience for them. This book is very easy to listen to and makes Venice sound heavenly. There's so many places discussed that you can really make a list of places that fit what your criteria of what you are looking to do on your trip. Wonderful book!

Left Me Drooling and Ready to Pack My Bag
I feel like Marco has taken me by the hand and led me through his cherished Venice. I followed along by opening up maps on my computer and feel I have learned so much about the sestieri. While I have always been interested in the possibility of visiting this fascinating city, Venice now calls to me. I am drooling at the thought of aperitivos and cicchetti. I will need to learn some Venetian Italian for my trip.
