Publisher's summary

COVID-19 is spreading across the country. Peaceful demonstrations for Black Lives Matter after the murder by cop of George Floyd have turned violent. President Trump’s handling of the pandemic seems incompetent and chaotic. Infections and deaths continue to rise. When Attorney General Barr orders riot police and troops to clear peaceful protesters from Lafayette Square for Trump’s photo-op with a Bible, something snaps in Jack Blair. After a psychotic episode he is thrown into prison, and his life is threatened by white nationalist boogaloo bois.

Yet, amid the fear of the virus, police brutality, and riots, there is a love story. Sherry Clemens, an industrial heiress, and Jack Blair, a militant anarchist, fall in love. Will he forsake the revolution for her? What does she know about his covert revolutionary activities? How can her conservative Republican family accept him?

The love story and the crazy politics of our time intertwine and clash. Gloria Hughes, a young idealistic ACLU attorney, needs to untangle the mess and free Jack Blair. The Trump Administration is determined to stop her.

A wild turn in a mans life

This is the first political novel I have ever read. I wasn't sure what to expect. I found it to be a very interesting book that shows both sides of the political party. I am not really political, but with the way the world is right now it does intrigue me. I love you tell the author took today's political events, and made a complete story around it from this gentleman's life when he was 15 all the way up till when he was 70. The book is definitely worth a read. The story was great, and unfolds a great picture while listening

The narration in this book was just amazing. I had to look and see if there was actually two narrator's because he pulled off the second voice so well. I would definitely listen to him again.

A Great Political Suspense Story

Definitely among the top two or three new books I've read in 2020, Anarchist, Republican, Assassin is part baby boomer retrospective, part critique of the last 4 years in America, part political thriller and always a riveting tale of a man's world gone wrong. Jack, the hero is a man of strong convictions whose disillusionment leads him down a path his mature self never dreamed he would find himself on. His young lawyer, intent on doing her best for her client, finds herself in the middle of of a conspiracy she never dreamed could even exist and both are trapped in a web spun by a government more concerned with saving face than with saving justice.
This is a tale that seems all too real in the America of 2020, a tale that almost begs the question "what if it's all true" ... but there in lies the madness of QAnon and InfoWars. Still, what if ...

Different

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was a good book about what is happening in the world right now but also with a bit of romance tossed into the politics. I never thought I would like something like this but I did! I might start giving more attention to books like this from now on.
