A meet-cute it was not! Jane had a new horse to get to know and train; she didn’t need sketchy cowboy Cory to get in her way, or to give her that look with his ocean deep blue eyes.

Seventeen-year-old Jane has one dream: to earn a spot on the National Dressage Team. Her days are filled with training, sweat, and the steady rhythm of hooves—but everything changes when Windsong comes to the barn.

Jane has found the horse of her dreams or so she thinks. Windsong has the breeding, training, and flashy good looks to win medals at national competitions, and Jane figures she’ll point him down the centerline and waltz out of the arena with enough blue ribbons to overflow her tack trunk. He is a tall, black, imported Swedish Warmblood trained to the Grand Prix level, the epitome of elegance and grace whenever he is not carrying on like a fire-breathing dragon. He’s scary. The thought of climbing aboard makes her limbs jittery and her brain stop working.

Cory is the inconsiderate, condescending Stetson-wearing cowboy she is forced to work with at the barn. Cory openly questions Jane’s horsemanship. And worse, Kate, Jane’s beloved trainer, seemingly sides with him! Tempers blaze and horseshoes fly, but something else begins to spark. With championship dreams on the line and emotions galloping out of control, Jane must decide what matters most: the ride, the romance, or finding her own rhythm.

And We Danced is a heartwarming, slow-burn YA equestrian romance for fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty, Canterwood Crest, and Heartland. Perfect for horse lovers, dream chasers, and anyone who loves stories about athletes and training.

the story is good, but the virtual reader is terrible and they get the technical terms incorrect.

virtual reading is terrible

The first chapter - from an equestrian viewpoint - drew me in. The rest was nothing more than teenage angst, and I was very disappointed. A couple of incidents were thrown into the story for no apparent reason, and while horrible were more or less left at “oh well.” The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth. Not a well written equestrian story anyway.

High Hopes … Dashed
