Publisher's summary

In 1937 Hollywood, gossip columnist Sheilah Graham’s star is on the rise while literary wonder boy F. Scott Fitzgerald’s career is slowly drowning in booze. But the once-famous author, desperate to make money penning scripts for the silver screen, is charismatic enough to attract the gorgeous Miss Graham, a woman who exposes the secrets of others while carefully guarding her own. Like Scott’s hero Jay Gatsby, Graham has meticulously constructed a life far removed from the poverty of her childhood in London’s slums. And like Gatsby, the onetime guttersnipe learned early how to use her charms to become a hardworking success feted and feared by both the movie studios and their luminaries.

A notorious drunk famously married to the doomed "crazy Zelda", Fitzgerald fell hard for his "Shielah" (he never learned to spell her name), a shrewd yet softhearted woman - both a fool for love and nobody’s fool - who would stay with him and help revive his career until his tragic death three years later. Working from diaries and other primary sources from the time, Sally Koslow revisits their scandalous love affair, bringing Graham and Scott gloriously alive in this compelling pause resister saturated with the color, glitter, magic, and passion of 1930s Hollywood and Sheilah’s dramatic transformation in London.

Sad

The story is total through the eyes of Sheliah Graham, the mistress of F. Scott Fitzgerald. Scott Fitzgerald is an alcoholic and a mean abustive drunk. Sheliah has a low self esteem and feels that Scott is the only person who understands her.

A slice of history worth repeating

Sally Koslow has written another beautiful novel. Another Side of Paradise is an historical novel that brings us back to the last decades of F. Scott Fitzgerald's life and his significant relationship. It is beautifully written with an authenticity that parallels his own novels. Sadly Koslow has the ability to write masterfull. Her books span genres, and Another Side of Paradise is a historical novel for those who love literature, journalism, and a good read.

Wonderful information on this timeless love affair.

Loved this story. Have always heard of the love affair between Sheilah Graham and F Scott Fitzgerald. This makes it real.

Beautiful

What beautifully written book. I was taken in right from the beginning. I didn’t like the narrator’s voice at first but in the second chapter her voice captured me.
I loved the book.

Narrator interfered with my enjoyment of the book

I've now learned that it's a good idea to listen to a sample before ordering a book. The story probably is very good but I was unable to finish listening because the narrator's timbre grated on my nerves.
