About this listen

Jesse McDermitt is back, just as he promised. This time, he is thrust into the heart of the Florida Panhandle's Tate's Hell State Forest, where the tranquil surroundings belie a dangerous secret—a network of clandestine meth labs hidden against the backdrop of the Forgotten Coast’s natural beauty.

Jesse, a retired Marine turned charter boat captain, has brought his family to Apalachicola “for the oysters.” But being who he is, the leisurely cruise soon spins into a gripping quest to unravel the truth behind the illicit operations threatening the region.

As rumors swirl around the waterfront, Jesse is propelled into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, navigating through a maze of secrets and deception to expose the sinister forces at play.

With his trademark blend of resourcefulness and determination, Jesse uncovers a web of intrigue that threatens to tear apart the fabric of the tight-knit community.

I was thrilled when I started reading this book. Thank you Wayne for melding your characters with Dawn’s Forgotten Coast Florida Suspense Series. We lost her too soon. I have read everything she has written and had tears when Apalach Affair started. Great story, love that you all have characters that do crossover from time-to-time. I am from Panama City, FL and know the area.

I recommend all the Wayne Stinnett books in order along with Forgotten Coast and a few other characters from this book. Absolutely enjoy reading, or listening to these books. Thank you!

Fantastic tribute to Dawn Lee McKenna and her characters fit perfectly with Jesse McDermitt.

Wayne Stinnett has become my new fav author. I've bought every book in the Jesse series, binged listened ro them one right after another, and love the continued character development and integration with the "people and places" in similar series by other authors. Having grown up in rural Florida close to the coast and being a sailboat bum myself, I have truly enjoyed the series. The factual description of places I know well is kind of fun, too, as I think of times past when my life was a little more adventurous. Keep up the writing, Wayne...

love the integration

I've listened to all of Jesse McDermitt's novels so far. They are an interesting mix of action and backstory with many interesting characters and locations. I like the stories even though Jesse is an overbearing, self-righteous "Dudley Doright" who thinks he is always right. I forgive him, no one is perfect.

Top notch

Not much of an adventure in this one along with the pointless overly thorough detail of the fictitious trimaran made it one of my least favorites

Weak story

The whole storyline was not to my interest layout of the subject matter and antagonists.

Not a J. McDermott feel

Too much off on a tangent with detailed technical rhetoric that makes my attention glaze over. Narrator failed to bring Jesse, Savannah and Alberto and even Tank to life. I made it to Chapter 6 then gave up. I have the printed book and might try again but this was very disappointing.
