About this listen

It is America's most secret base, hidden deep in the Utah desert, an Air Force installation known only as Area 7. And today it has a visitor: the president of the United States. He has come to inspect Area 7, to examine its secrets for himself. But he's going to get more than he bargained for on this trip - because hostile forces are waiting inside.

Among the president's helicopter crew, however, is a young Marine. He is quiet, enigmatic, and he hides his eyes behind a pair of silver sunglasses. His name is Schofield. Call-sign: Scarecrow. Rumour has it, he's a good man in a storm. Judging by what the president has just walked into, he'd better be.

Critic reviews

"Reilly, the pedal-to-the-metal action novelist from Australia, returns here with yet another inelegant yet oddly invigorating rip-snorter about - what else? - world domination." ( Publishers Weekly)
"An exciting romp." ( Library Journal)

Matthew Reilly's Area 7 is without a doubt one of my favorite action novels and its excellent use of fast past action coupled with rich characterization and on the edge of your seat style of writing proves to be a definite winner here, however the i found the narrator to be another matter all together, while the book warrants 5 stars i feel the narrator lets down the novel as a hole and i find his use of voice work to be at some points cringe-worthy, i thoroughly recommend the book, however you would be much better advised to pick up the Sean Mangan narrated version of the book as he is a far superior narrator and fits the genre the book is going for much better than Steven Pacey Does.

Excellent Book, Not So Great Narrator.

Matthew Reilly has a similarity to each of his books so far but for escapism is does the job with absolutely non stop action.

The narrator in this audio killed it. Shaun Mangen is by far an awesome narrator and with multiple characters he is all over it. Changing narrators in a series just turns people off chasing more stories by the author.
