About this listen

When Lori Shepherd returns from her trip to America, she is shocked to hear that Prunella "Pruneface" Hooper has been killed. This is the first murder in the village of Finch in more than a century, and everyone is in an uproar.

Before the town implodes in the wake of this scandal, Lori sets out to solve the murder. Unfortunately, nearly everyone in Finch had a reason to want Mrs. Hooper dead. With the help of the ghostly Aunt Dimity and Nicholas, the enigmatic (and charming!) self-defense instructor, Lori aligns motive, means, and opportunity to unravel this delightfully tangled and gossip-filled whodunnit.

I enjoy the Aunt Dimity series and have read the books up until this one. I was excited to see the one book I couldn’t borrow from the library in Audible. My excitement quickly faded as I began listening. The narration is so very stilted. Each word is so carefully enunciated that fluency is diminished. Also, verbal emotion is virtually nonexistent. I had to speed up the narration simply to make the story sound normal. I will not listen to another Aunt Dimity book. I feel like I wasted a credit.

Story is great! Narration, not so much.

The narrator on the ones before was so stilted and it was frustrating because I've listened to others she'd done for other authors which were fine!
Aunt Dimity deserves the best ❤️

The new narrator is GREAT!

Murder of the town shrew\blackmailer causes suspicion of many vulnerable residents against each other. And why does the stranger in town care?

Was this read by AI? It exaggerated the pronounceation until it was choppy. Annoying
