About this listen
My name is Hope and I'd like to introduce you to our world. Earth is full of two races, the Avoidables and the Perfects. I'm an Avoidable because I only have one arm. I was born that way, apparently. Because of my defect, my mother had to move to the Lower Side. The Perfects are humans that have no physical flaws. They live in luxury, while we live in filth.
Avoidables have defects ranging from looks to unexplained gifts. Some of us are half breeds. Dragons and animals were known to have bred with the human race thousands of years ago. We all live in cities, usually divided in two. The Perfects live on the Upper Side, while the Avoidables inhabit the Lower Side. We've been consumed by hate for a race that rejects us so heartlessly. We've become dangerous.
I like to sneak over to their side sometimes. It's fun to watch how they live. To watch their perfect gorgeous faces react to the one-armed freak. Until I met Jason, anyway. He ignored the fact that I had one arm, even daring to touch my shoulder stub. What happened when he did blew my mind. I was no longer an ugly Avoidable. I was much, much better than any Perfect.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

Interesting new series!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would if they liked this genre...this is a very interesting story!
What was one of the most memorable moments of Avoidables: Serial 1: Episode 1?
When Hope reads the journal!
What does Anna Ferguson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I love her accent...she gives the book a more interesting twist....I just wish the audio would have been recorded better...it was kinda tinny....and I hate that!!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did...its short and too the point...no dragging it out which I also hate.....its a nice flowing solid story!
Any additional comments?
** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **
I enjoyed this, I enjoyed this enough to want more..and I hope we get another episode!
This is a story about a girl Named Hope, she was born with only one arm and shunned by a society who feels if you are not perfect, you need to be outcast to another part of town! They are actually called The Perfects and The Avoidables....how messed up is that? But the time has come where not everyone feels that way and both sides are sneakily trying to join forces and form a rebellion! There are Angels, and other cool things....and there is a bit of a love story starting and stopping, and perhaps starting again...and a bit of destiny mixed in here, in this short and very intriguing little story! I will continue this series! Well worth a listen!!!

How we act is really what makes a person!
I really enjoyed this story, written by author Rachel Medhurst. I've never heard or listened to anything by this author but I will now look for other stories by her. I found it to be a faced paced story. I was drawn into the story immediately. I felt for Hope and the life she was felt. She is definitely a strong female dealing with discrimination and everything an avoidable listens to from the perfects. The author did a wonderful job in creating this story. She created a good storyline, detailed description, and some amazing characters. I wish the author had considered writing a more lengthier book though. This story is right there with the Hunger Games and others like Divergent and a longer story would have made it even better. I have high hopes that the author will consider writing longer stories about the Avoidables and the Perfects.
Anna Ferguson, did an enjoyable job with her narration of this story. She kept me pulled into this story. She did a great job with giving each character distinct voices/accents that help you identify each character. She did a perfect job at letting the listener feel the emotions from certain characters like Hope, Jason, Purple, and other characters in the story. I haven't listened to anything narrated by Anna but I'm sure I'll look for other stories she's narrated. Overall, a perfect story and a great performance by the author and narrator. This is a 5 🌟 rating! I received this audio in exchange for an honest review.

A Promising New Series
I liked the concept of THE AVOIDABLES and feel it has a lot pf promise. The story was good and had good characters. Hope is a great character who's an Avoidable because she has only one arm but she has wings. She meets Purple. I'm not quite sure about him yet. I'm uncertain if Purple is Jason. I like these characters and see this developing into a great series. Then there's Noland whose a likeable character.
A few places in the story left me wondering but I was definitely drawn in. I can see it developing into something really great. I look forward to seeing where Rachel Medhurst goes with the story. I liked the length of this one for the beginning of a series because it leaves room for so much more in the follow up book.
Anna Ferguson does a great job narrating the story. I like her voice and she has good voice inflections. She fits the story very well. The audio had a bit of a tinny sound but it didn't take away from the story or the narration. I'm hoping Anna continues with the series.

Avoidables
This book was all about building the story and introducing the characters. It didn't feel like much happened. I guess the next book will be mostly action...I hope.
