About this listen
A revenge-laden thriller gets up close and personal with the murderer, plunging listener deep into the revengeful machinations determined to redress the balance.
London 2023. DCI Andy Martins receives information of a murder in rural Ireland. Confused as to why this information has been sent to him, he soon discovers the murder has the hallmarks of a serial killer he arrested over eighteen years ago.
Andy Martins and his new partner, DCI Alice Pepper soon find themselves investigating a case they thought had long finished, but with brutal and vicious consequences for victims and families. The case brings back memories of the murder of Andy's wife and the savage killings of five women, with murderous gusto by Rob Hills.

The forest dropped to a heart pounding silence leaving them suffocating for the familiar sounds of the forest. The wilderness around Redwood, Washington, is vast but it is not empty. It holds a terrible secret, buried under layers of myth and legend. A broken down fence stands alone in the forest to mark the border of the unknown - a line no man will cross for decades.

Story
It was supposed to be a holiday to fix the cracks in our fractured family. I knew the seven days would be endless, but I never imagined that one of us would only survive for six of them… As I carry my case into the charming and rustic cottage and smile at my sister-in-law, Kelli, I allow myself a moment of hope. Perhaps this holiday will force our family to address our long-held grudges and leave with the promise of a happier future.

Story
When Terrance picks up a rideshare client at Logan International Airport in Boston, he has no idea how pivotal a moment in his life it will be. Within minutes of their introductions, the stranger offers Terrance the fulfillment of his dreams in less than one month. All he asks in return is that Terrance agrees to open and distribute the contents of one box per day, for 21 days. Although it would appear to be such a simple task, the dynamic quickly changes when he's faced with the decision of fulfilling his own dreams, or the dreams of otherwise total strangers.

Story
Most of the successful private prospectors who’d struck it rich during the California and Nevada gold rushes during the mid- to late-1800s, had journeyed westward with a specific plan from which they never deviated. Upon achieving their pre-defined goals, they packed up and returned to their original homes in distant regions of the United States. There were also plenty of others, who’d been unable to pull the plug after striking it rich, believing their lucky streak to be a never-ending one.

Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

Awoken a lot of emotions!
This book is all about a detective taking in details of a current murder and tying the details to his own wife’s murder years ago. I loved the Ireland setting and the back story. Well done!
