The Minnesota Wild won their 2nd game in a row as they dispatched the Edmonton Oilers 5-3 in Edmonton on Thursday night. The Wild improved to 13-3-3 on the season, and their 29 points trail only the Winnipeg Jets in the Western Conference. After Leon Draisaitl scored the opening goal of the game 27 seconds in, the Wild scored the next two goals (Matt Boldy and Marcus Foligno) to take a 2-1 lead. Corey Perry tied the score a few minutes later, before Marcus Johansson and Freddy Gaudreau scored to make it 4-2 after two. Gaudreau added another goal to make it 5-2. The Oilers scored with time winding down to make it 5-3 on a goal from Jeff Skinner, but the Wild grabbed the win. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 29 of 32 shots, as the Wild improved to 9-1-2 on the road so far in 2024-25. The Wild went 2/2 on the Penalty Kill and 0/1 on the Power Play. Up next is a game against Calgary on Saturday.
