About this listen
Feminists Anonymous is an organization of women who are dedicated to helping the still-suffering feminist. Of course, recognizing that there is a problem is just the beginning.
Prior to the formation of this beloved recovery program, there was little hope for the feminist who wanted or needed recovery. Now, there is hope. Welcome home Sisters!
This is the “Big Book” of Feminists Anonymous. We, the pioneers of this life-saving program, decided to set down our experiences to benefit others. For the friends and family, there is information on the accessory groups: Fem-Anon for anyone who suffers from knowing a feminist, and Fem-A-Teen for the children of active or recovering feminists.
Contact the Feminists Anonymous office for more information. Meeting lists are available.
Be sure to watch the Masterpiece Theatre presentation of "My Name Is Faith." This powerful drama, which airs regularly on any PBS channel, portrays the profoundly sacrificial life of one of the founders of FA.
Author's note:
The reactions to this Lampoon have been mixed. I feel it has been misunderstood. First of all, since it is a Lampoon of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous, the reader will be disoriented unless they are familiar with the Big Book of AA. And make no mistake, I mean no disservice to AA. It has saved more lives than all other recovery routes combined, despite the archaic supernatural leanings.
Secondly, I subversively explore the "Gaslighting" phenomena; the heroine of the tale is gas-lit to believe she is mentally ill.
Last, I wanted to point out that there is a real hysteria that pervades society. Women cannot be approached in any way in the workplace, school or public, without risking a hysterical reaction. The fear that infects women's minds is not without just cause; there are a lot of idiots out there. But ironically I used theatre, chess and work as opportunities to meet women. It worked for decades. But now, it carries great risk. Now I'd be called an opportunist and predator, risking life, limb and liberty by approaching a woman for simple conversation. The pendulum will eventually swing in the other direction, and women will become more approachable.
So, some folks go overboard with caution. That is one of the main thrusts of the book. And for those that have the Big Book of AA memorized, as I have through 30+ years of meetings, you'll immediately see the parody and parallels to the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous.
I tried to create an imaginary world where Feminism was a mental illness, and Feminists Anonymous was the cure. I mean no harm; I love the ladies. Although I do intend to provide some food for thought, this is a lampoon.
A portion of the proceeds of every e-Book or POD of "Feminists Anonymous" sold will be donated to breast cancer research.
Enjoy!
