About this listen
Join us for season 5 of the podcast! This season is all about life lessons and things we would share with our younger selves. In this episode we are joined by the amazing Rachel Barnes Starla Networking and Freedom to Thrive charity
Rachel shares her journey as a mum of a child with additional needs and this has led to an incredible journey wanting families in similar situations to have communities to work, grow and thrive in safely and inclusively.
Rachel's personal life lesson was all about not worrying about what others think of us.as this can hold us back in every area of our life! This is one not to be missed!
*Rachael Barnes set up a company called Freedom 2 Thrive with her friend and fellow SEN Mum, Tally Nothey. They are an a mission to change the care system for disabled adults, who deserve more- more opportunity, more dignity, more life. This involves creating vibrant, inclusive villages where parents can live alongside their disabled children and receive the support they’ve always dreamed of.
Rachael’s son Adam was 3 years old when he lost his conversational skills, his ability to read familiar words, count and maintain eye contact.
Although, he has made progress since this time, he’s unable to live without a level of adult support.
Rachael and Tally are working alongside TV Presenter Gethin Jones and his friend, Sion Tudur of the charity NaiWales to support families with autism.
