About this listen

It all started in Southport, Merseyside, a seventeen-year-old man killing three and injuring ten young girls at a Taylor Swift dance class, his weapon of choice, a kitchen knife. The murders sparked protests and riots around the country, mainly aimed at the Muslim community and the hotels housing illegal immigrants. People were beaten, properties vandalized, and as usual the boys in blue were stuck in the middle of it all.
Could things get worse? Of course they could.
A small group of people saw the rioting as an opportunity to escalate things to a higher level, to act against the migrants, to do something to try and stop the boats that were invading England’s shores. If the government of the day wouldn’t do anything, then they would do it themselves.
A bomb in Rotherham was followed by another in Newcastle, both targeting mosques. Police searched for links between the two, found that the weapons and explosives used in each had a history from The Troubles, the bad old days of Northern Ireland.
Was there a new IRA campaign in the offing, the terrorists manipulating the riots to hide their true cause?
DCI Julie Rees-Ojo needed to find answers and fast. Her job was on the line. People were dying. Political pressure was mounting. Another explosion would finish her, derail her career.
She had to find the people behind the bombs.
