About this listen

The Rhodesian bush war was the most intense conflict in Sub-Saharan African history. Backed by the Russians and Chinese and their allies, two large communist terrorist armies ranged against Rhodesia and were determined to wrest control of what was then one of the richest countries on the continent from its Western aligned white government. Landlocked and, at the behest of Britain, shunned by the international community, vastly outnumbered and outgunned, there seemed to be little prospect of the Rhodesians withstanding the onslaught. However, the Rhodesian Security Forces were to stun their enemies and the watching world by not only holding off the communist terrorist hoards, but actually taking the fight to them. At the epicentre of the struggle to keep their country free from the grip of communism was the Rhodesian Special Air Service. Ranging deep into Zambia, Mozambique and, on occasion, Botswana, deploying by foot, boat, vehicle and parachute, and with little prospect of support should things go wrong, the SAS struck fear into the hearts of the terrorists and their allies, wreaking havoc by carrying out pinpoint raids against terrorist targets and critical infrastructure which almost brought the enemy and their supporters to their knees.

Bravo Ten is the Story of an 18 year-olds service with the 1st Rhodesian SAS Regiment, from the tortuous training and selection through to daring behind the lines operations all the way to the war’s end and beyond. It’s packed with adventure, near misses, heart stopping action and humour and is a must read for anyone interested in taking a peek into the Rhodesian bush war and the shadowy world of Special Forces. Buckle yourself up for a rollercoaster of a ride!...
