 The Rhodesian bush war was the most intense conflict in Sub-Saharan African history. Backed by the Russians and Chinese and their allies, two large communist terrorist armies ranged against Rhodesia and were determined to wrest control of what was then one of the richest countries on the continent from its Western aligned white government. Landlocked and, at the behest of Britain, shunned by the international community, vastly outnumbered and outgunned, there seemed to be little prospect of the Rhodesians withstanding the onslaught. However, the Rhodesian Security Forces were to stun their enemies and the watching world by not only holding off the communist terrorist hoards, but actually taking the fight to them. At the epicentre of the struggle to keep their country free from the grip of communism was the Rhodesian Special Air Service.
