Story
In 2010 my wife, our young daughter, and a good friend of mine embarked on the journey of a lifetime. We chose the famous Appalachian Trail (AT) as our destination to make personal history. Being experienced hikers, and my friend and I being ex-military, we were well prepared for the hike ahead. My wife and I had some idea of what we were all getting into, but this was the first AT visit, for my friend and my daughter. I kept day-by-day journal entries of those 24 adventurous days, and 12 years later have turned those into this book. Book 1 of a new series I have titled, "An Appalachian ...

Story
What happens when a 37-year-old office worker, who exercises marginally less than the average cheese sandwich, decides to walk 630 miles of challenging coastline in one go? Will he go on an epic voyage of self-discovery...or just get really knackered? Find out the answers to these important questions, and many more, by joining him on a grand adventure that takes in 26,719 steps, 921 stiles, 302 bridges, 91,000 feet of climbing and descending, one seal, zero basking sharks, lots of chips and one overweight, oversize backpack.

Story
In 2005 a now ex-wife of mine and myself embarked on the journey of a lifetime. We chose the famous Appalachian Trail (AT) as our destination to make personal history. Being novice hikers, as we were, we were ill-prepared for the hike ahead but we had no idea since this would be the first time, we had stepped foot on the Appalachian Trail. We had no idea what we were getting into. I kept day-by-day journal entries, of those 30 fated days and 16 years later have decided to turn those into this book. In a sense, I was following an internal guide, one that led me to this trail with a sense of ...

Amusing and informative, Hey Ranger! teaches as it entertains with tales of boat-ramp misadventures, lost Afghani campers, encounters with wild animals, dumb crooks, and more. One chapter, "Tales from the Wild Side", brings together unusual incidents from National Park Service reports, and the concluding essay, "Don't Be a Victim of Your Vacation", advises visitors on how to avoid being a story on the evening news.

Interesting story.
Enjoyed the book but don’t plan to read it again. The virtual voice was very pleasant and overall pretty good however it or he mispronounced many names of places and didn’t end the sentence, it just dropped off. Otherwise it was fun to see where the author was Hiking. JS
