About this listen

A Small Town, Enemies to Lovers, Holiday Romance from New York Times bestselling author, Samantha Chase!

Everyone in the building loved the bake shop a lot.

Except for the guy on the top floor, who most certainly did not.

If it were up to him, there wouldn’t be a hint of Christmas in the building.

For two months out of the year, Daphne Noelle got to live her dream of owning a bakery. Her little pop-up bake shop—one that looked just like a gingerbread house—brought joy to every customer who stopped by to enjoy her sweet treats. She loved meeting people and making them smile, and being in such a festive setting every day was just the icing on the cake! For the last three years, everything had gone smoothly, but this year, there was one guy who was determined to ruin it all.

One of the things Tristan appreciated most about the office complex where his architecture firm was located is how upscale and elegant it was. Unfortunately, every year for eight long weeks, a holiday shop set up in the lobby, turning it into the equivalent of a traveling circus, and the bake shop booth was the worst offender. The giant gingerbread house was an eyesore and the woman running it was too cheery for his liking. This year, he was determined to do everything he could to have her and her booth removed.

When Tristan finds himself in the middle of a delicate family situation, only Daphne can help him. Now, he’ll have to beg and plead and promise to be on his best behavior while dealing with her exuberant holiday joy. But the more time he spends with her—and the more awkward situations she saves him from—he begins to realize there’s more to her than over-the-top holiday cheer. And maybe, when you’re with the right person, Christmas can mean a little bit more.

Tis the season

From the start I knew I was in for a magical read from Samantha Chase.

Bakery Owner Daphne Noelle loves the holidays but Tristan hates the idea of her pop up bake shop. He’s a grinch and dislikes the holiday season.

However when circumstances means he needs Daphne, help he has no choice but to swallow his pride:

What follows was a truly entertaining story that had me smiling and cheering. The added benefit of it being set in a small town with quirky characters just adds to the story.

I just loved this holiday romance from the first word to the last.

Sweet, enemies to lovers holiday romance.

Move over Hallmark. Samantha Chase has given us the perfect holiday romance. It's the kind of story that makes you want to curl up with a blanket, warm drink and a fire. It's an enemies to lovers, opposites attract holiday romance.

Tristan is an overworked, straight-laced architect stressed out as the holidays approach. Daphne is the baker that runs a popup space for 2 months over the holidays in the lobby of his building. She often refers to him as grinchy-grincherson. Tristan is forced to help throw the family and business annual parties and begrudgingly now needs Daphne's help with baked goods and hostessing. Let the fake dating commence! I enjoyed watching their relationship change and grow as they navigate through the stressful holiday season.

This is a single narration by Melanie Mendez. I think this is the first Melanie book for me and I enjoyed her very much. She did an excellent job distinguishing between characters and kept me entertained.

This is a sweet story with lots of heart, great characters and the perfect read for the holidays.

Cozy holiday read

Daphne and Tristan were complete opposites and strangers to each other that is until Tristan needed Daphne's baking skills. It was so entertaining to listen to their witty banter and watch their relationship grow into something much deeper. While I wasn’t a fan of how Daphne handled the problem near the end, the conclusion was still satisfying.

This audiobook was easy to dive into, thanks to the skillful narrator. It’s a cozy and sweet story, perfect for a holiday read.

Cute holiday story

Cute holiday story about a grinch and a holiday loving girl. They ended up having a fake relationship for his family and he saw how wonderful she was. She, of course, was able to get him to love the holidays and her. The narration was great.
