About this listen

A brand new lawyer and his young bride have returned from their honeymoon and are moving into their new high-rent apartment. In order to reach this "charming" dwelling, they must first climb six creaking flights of stairs. Once there, they find the place is absolutely bare of furniture, the paint job is all wrong, the skylight leaks, there is room for only one twin bed, and the wacky neighbors pop up at the worst times.(P)2001 L.A. Wonderful fun

The performances were well done. It was a fun listen. Laura Linney reminded me so much of Jane Fonda. Nice to listen to a story with a happy ending...

Perfect time killer.

Lightweight comedy for sure, but great acting makes it a fun and easy listen.
Just the right length for a long commute. A fun and easy listen.
Just remember, it was written in the early 60's. If you didn't know then Corie/Laura Linney's answer, when asked what she does for a living should give you a clue. ;)

kurzes unterhaltsames Hörspiel

Ich kannte barefoot in the park vorher nicht und fand das Hörspiel sehr unterhaltsam. Gzter Humor, gure Stimmen und gute Länge

Cute, dated rom-com play

This dated Neil Simon romantic comedy play felt a bit dated. Written in the early 60's, it feels a bit sexist, but I did enjoy it as a cute period piece. Good reading made it a fun listen. It made for a very pleasant 2 hour car ride. You get the traditional gender stereotypes clashing in the two newlyweds. If you can get by that, you might enjoy this light weight fun piece. I did.

Too be young and silly again.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

So it isn't as good as actually seeing the play in person but it is better than just reading the script.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Corrie. To live life with passion and feeling. Don't we all wish we had the courage to? If her character works the play works.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely, It is a play and can be easily listened too in one go. More importantly it can be listened to again and again whenever the days are short and the snow is coming into you life through the skylight. It will melt away the blues.

Newsflash, Neil Simon is awesome

What an awesomely funny and quirky work!!! I'd forgotten how much I loved Simon... The radio production style w/ the fx turned it into an incredibly entertaining couple of hours... It's short, so don't know if I'd pay full freight for a short work, but it was definitely worth the daily deal price...

Made me think I might want to see the movie

It's dated but it's sweet and I enjoyed it.
It's a taste from a past that I remember fondly.

Fun, quick listen

Well performed, humorous play. Nice for those times when you want something to listen to in one sitting. They kept it in the original time period, making it fun to reminisce about things like getting to phone line installed. A funny scene.

Funny and Lively

A really good story really well told. The actors are outstanding, especially Laura Linney. At less than two hours, when I have a little time during the day, I like to load this performance and laugh along one more time. It is a treat.
