About this listen

Welcome to the Puppy Place! Where every puppy finds a home.

Welcome to the Puppy Place!

Charles and Lizzie Peterson love puppies. Their family fosters these young dogs, giving them love and proper care, until they can find the perfect forever home.

Barkley takes Lizzies breath away... literally! Barkley, the Great Pyrenees, is a ball of energy, and far too big for the apartment he has been living in. Lizzie does her best to teach him manners, but she can't make him smaller! Then Lizzie stumbles on what just might be the perfect place for this protective, patient pup. Can Lizzie help Barkley get settled in his dream home?

mom here, sometimes I enjoy catching up on what my kids are into, and the puppy place books are just a sweet and enjoyable change up for me from time to time. haven't listened to any from this series in a while, so I thought I'd dive in and see what's changed... we'll, it's the same sweet family I enjoyed from the early books in the series. good messages, all ages friendly, nothing I can complain about. I had no idea this would be about a Pyrenees- just dumb luck i picked this one... but as a homestead family with currently 2 Great Pyrenees dogs, I was also little skeptical that either subject would be portrayed accurately, but this was surprising accurate on both accounts- the homesteaders and the dog! one small inaccuracy, though, Great Pyrenees really dont eat as much as people think. for their size, they eat on the low side, about the same as a Boxer would eat, and ours tend to be a tad picky- pretty much only meat scraps or they turn up their noses and they prefer to spread out their meals - as in nibble off and on, rather than just scarf up everything in 1 or 2 meals. but everything else is spot on, right down to Barkley laying at the top of the steps!lol!

fun dog story, very accurate

My daughter is 3 and puppies are her favorite thing right now. We have listened to the first book in this series Goldie and it was calm and clean and very toddler friendly. I purchased this book because we have this breed of dog and thought it would be fun for my daughter. However this book is from the older sisters POV and the side story through out the book is about how she doesn't want to go to her friends scary themed sleepover party that's she's actually supposed to be co-hosting. There are descriptions of ghosts, bloody fingers as food, and the main characters feeling of fear. All of that was too much for my toddler and we had to skip most of the book to avoid it. So I would recommend this listen for an older kiddo who can handle a spooky sideline a bit more.

The side story wrecked it for us
