Barren Sky, the third book of the Forsaken Trilogy does and excellent job of bringing the series to its conclusion, and much like the world in this series the series goes out with a bang. Dia makes to San Francisco where she encounters more of the Los Muertos clan and a new group the River Rangers. Both groups are engaged in their own efforts to produce clean water for their own clan’s survival. This episode of the series isn’t without loss of life for several characters, much like its predecessors they meet spectacular ends in several cases. Along Dia’s search in San Francisco, she encounters darker sides to the dystopian world than she had experienced in her cross-country trek from Ohio to California.

I listened to the audiobook narrated with virtual voice. While Virtual voice doesn’t work well for all stories, in the case of Barren Sky I hardly noticed I was listening to AI instead of a human narrator.
