About this listen
The various crises we experience in society and culture today, at their root, reveal a spiritual problem: a profound lack of meaning. The mystical truths revealed in scripture can surely help.
Part One, “Entering the Desert”, introduces the listener to principles of awareness, deep listening, and contemplation as essential for “hearing” what Scripture has to say. Part Two details the importance of mystery and struggle in the process of healing from any past or present wounds. And Part Three explores the “undivided heart” that is possible when we come to know God in silence and stillness.
With Be Still it is possible to explore the contemplative dimensions of the Bible, either on your own or in a group setting, as you perhaps never have before.

Story
Two dozen select prayer poems to learn from and live with. Poetry and prayer are closely related. We often look to poets to give language to our deepest hopes, fears, losses - and prayers. Poets slow us down. They teach us to stop and go in before we go on. They play at the edges of mystery, holding a tension between line and sentence, between sense and reason, between the transcendent, and the deeply, comfortingly familiar. When Poets Pray contains thoughtful meditations by Marilyn McEntyre on choice poems/prayers and poems about prayer.

Story
Is an imposter robbing you of God's love? Many Christians have bought into the lie that we are worthy of God's love only when our lives are going well. If our families are happy or our jobs are meaningful, life is a success. But when life begins to fall through the cracks and embarrassing sins threaten to reveal our less-than-perfect identity, we scramble to keep up a good front to present to the world - and God. We cower and hide until we can rearrange the mask of perfection and look good again.

Some people have learned how to live. They can handle all that life brings. They are composed. They radiate strength. They are whole, with lives worth emulating, and when they speak people listen. They are, in a word, wise. How did these people get wisdom? And perhaps more importantly, how can we? In his long-awaited first audiobook, Daniel Grothe of New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, shows us how to get wisdom for ourselves by examining what the Bible has to say about it and by providing practical steps for acquiring it.

Story
Whether in struggle, illness, death, or failure, the presence of pain causes us to question the presence of God. We pray and watch the sky, crossing our spiritual fingers for hardcore proof of God's nearness. And in the silence, we sense something more sinister: perceived abandonment. But what if we could collect evidence that God hasn't left us? What if we could be absolutely certain of God's presence and affection, strengthening our faith against any assault? Woven throughout Scripture sits a single, extraordinary theme: God is with us.

Very good mystic book.
I enjoyed my mystic sister’s book. It had me think hard about my views and how I live out my Christian mysticism. More politically left of center than my world view enjoys, but if yours is more far left politically, you’ll likely enjoy it more than I did. I still encourage anyone on the mystic path to give it a read.

Excellent topic lacking in narration
I love this book b/c this topic is something I struggle with. The text gives lots of great background from Christianity as well as other teachings, to the importance of slowing down. So I love the book at this level. I find the book very informative and challenging for my own continued spiritual development.
My problem is with the narration. The narrators voice "doesn't minister to me" and I find it difficult to listen to her reading. The pacing of the narration is inconsistent. There are times when I am expecting a pause at the conclusion of a sentence or a thought and the narrator just blasts on through to the next sentence or thought. The audio quality is also distracting, but I can't place my finder on the issue - I'm not an audio technician.
At the end of the day, I'd probably encourage the reader to buy a hard copy or digital copy and skip the audiobook.
