About this listen

"A debut novel with the perfect amount of suspense and mystery that will leave you guessing until the last moment." (Mandi Lynn, author of She's Not Here)

"If you are looking for a mystery, a haunting, and a dash of sweet romance in the midst of panic, you have to read this book. I couldn't put it down!" (Bethany Atazadeh, author of The Stolen Kingdom)

After living in the shadow of her parents for as long as she can remember, it’s time for Marigold Wilder to make her own choices.

When her grandfather passes away, Mari is adamant about attending his funeral, even with her parents dead set against it. She packs a bag and heads for Beaconfield, but the old maritime town isn’t the summer home she remembers.

A bizarre series of disturbing events unfold, reuniting Mari with her childhood crush Ridge and forcing the two of them to unearth the town’s haunting past. As they grow closer, Mari and Ridge unwittingly take on the responsibility of solving a decades-old mystery as they work together to decipher an ancient family tree.

With time running out, they need to work fast before the funeral Mari came to Beaconfield to attend becomes her own.

Spooky and engaging!

I wasn’t sure what to expect with a new author but Bri Leclerc definitely surpassed my expectations. The story sucked me in right away and I found it hard to put it down. The suspenseful mystery kept me on the edge of my seat and a touch of romance sealed the deal for me. Great debut novel!

Narration was excellent and brought the story to life.

I don’t read many spooky suspenseful mysteries but the story sounded interesting and I decided to try something a bit different than what I’m used it. I’m really happy I gave it a shot because it was very engaging and kept me interested from beginning to conclusion.

I’m looking forward to reading more books by this talented new author.

Good!

This was a pretty good book. A girl goes back to her grandparents town for her grandfather's funeral. She meets up with her childhood best friend, discovers a mystery as well as some paranormal activity.

I liked the characters. They were well written and rounded out fantastically. The storyline had good flow and I wasn't bored at any part. The pacing was excellent! There were no parts where it was quicker or slower than the rest of the book. Well done!

The narrator is someone who I liked to listen to. She has a great voice and a talent for this line of work. Great breath and voice control. Able to convey the emotions of the moment and brings the characters to life

I'll be watching this author

This book was great, the twists and turns made it impossible to put down and I couldn't stop listening. I can't believe this is the author's first work, I'll definitely be watching for more. This is a great summer read.

Beaconfield

This was a very good book.I felt the repetition of everything was un needed and the daughter was a real pain in the butt, but I liked it.The story was good.Beacon field has a problem. It is like a dark cloud has settled on it.No one wants to go there.A funeral takes Mari Gold there despite her mothers protests. Lauren Rodriguez was a fine narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
