Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Great to play on a cozy December night
The narrator is great for this and even sings some parts of the stories! My favorite thing about this title is that the whole thing is layered with relaxing music to help little listeners nod off. I loved the story of Claus the mouse (Christmas at the old farmhouse), the backpack part and how it inspires a want to learn to read and also engendered a sense of compassion toward animals (because you listen from the perspective of him and his mouse companions). There are so many great stories that are super unique and I haven’t read anything quite like them before. There is a really nice jingly vibe throughout the stories and create a really cozy vibe that I absolutely love! This would be a great one to play throughout the house on a cozy December night with the Christmas lights and decorations lighting up the front room.
