Publisher's summary
Being small is the worst! No one ever picks me for their sports team and my feet hurt from standing on my tiptoes all the time. There can't be anything good about being small...right?
Being Small is a book about a little girl who is scared to go to school because she's the shortest kid in the class. She talks about all of the reasons that being short is a challenge, but her mother presents to her funny and unique advantages that only she has because of her height, instilling self-confidence in her.
This book is a must-listen for any child who has ever fallen behind the curve on the growth chart.

Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Great story about being YOU
What a great book for any child, especially those who may be feeling insecure about themselves. The book encourages kids to look at what they deem as disadvantages with a different lens and the end result is self acceptance, self confidence and a world without bullying. I especially loved how the narrator was able to capture the pure emotion of the mom and daughter in this book. A perfect bedtime story.

Whimsical storytelling audiobook
A very sweet rhyming story about a little girl who feels bad for being small. Relatable and good hearted as it teaches children that everybody is perfect how they are. Super sweet how she is reminded that she has awesome qualities and whether you are small or tall or anything in between does not make you any less perfect.
I listened to the audio book and was really happy with how the story was delivered. The narrator has a playful acting voice that transitioned well from the child’s lines to the adult’s. I could hear the emotions well through her tone of narration and it was easy to hear the flow of the story and whimsical rhymes. Awesome read. A good addition to your children’s book collection.

Love this in audio form!
I bought this book for my 2.5 year old daughter, and she liked it so much that she wanted to “read” it in the car. I was so happy when I saw this went to Audible! I love the clear, engaging narrator. She really emphasizes the rhyming cadence, and now my daughter loves “reading” along to it by memory.

Amazing story!
I love this story! The author did an amazing job...and it is a really cute, but empowering story. I feel that small kids will feel rather tall after reading or listening to this story! Kudos to the author!;)

Love to be small, love to be you
I love this book and wanted to experience the audio version. It was great, very easy to listen to and understand. The narrator spoke clearly and not too fast, so all ages and abilities will be able to follow along. I also like how the narrator did a great job performing both the child and mom voice in a believable way! Highly recommended both in paperback and audio. Would be a nice combo!

AMAZING BOOK with amazing message
Being Small by Lori Orlinsky is a heart-warming story with an important message about self-acceptance. I can very much relate to this story in that as a grown adult, I am only 4’11, so growing up I was always the smallest child in class. I wish this book had been around when I was a child because it really would have helped me, as well as my self-esteem. As a former Kindergarten teacher, I highly recommend this book as a must-have for all classroom libraries! The adorable illustrations and important message will captivate all children!!!

A cute story to empower the tiniest humans that there is an upside to being so close to the ground. Fun to listen to and my kids begged to listen to it!
