About this listen
Fifteen years ago Carrie Martins walked into the woods with three children. They were never seen again and she was convicted of their murder.
Dr Ethan Quinn has always been fascinated by the case. Now he has the opportunity to talk to her in his new role as prison psychiatrist. Carrie is up for parole and he's going to be responsible for recommending it or not. Her presentation changes every time they meet and Ethan isn't sure who the real Carrie is underneath the masks she wears. What is she hiding from and why is she so reluctant to talk about what happened to those children? Is it the shame of someone guilty of a horrific crime, or is she protecting someone else?
Carrie is known to lie as easily as she breathes, but what if the truth is hidden inside those lies? Can you work out who is telling the truth?

Guilty or not guilty?
Believe Me
By Molly Garcia
Narrated by Grant Love
I received a complimentary copy and am voluntarily leaving a review.
After three children go missing, Carrie Martins is arrested and convicted of their murders. Fifteen years later, newly hired as a prison psychiatrist, Dr. Ethan Quinn has the daunting task of deciding whether Carrie qualifies for parole or remains in prison. Her statements are never supported by the facts and her lack of regret complicates matters. But if Carrie isn't the murderer, then who is, and why?
I found the premise of Believe Me, by Molly Garcia utterly intriguing. It is a psychological thriller that winds around characters with distinct characteristics, which makes the plot rich and immersive. The narrative examines issues of mental illness, heinous crime, and the lengths people will go to to achieve their goals.
The characters are the novel's primary focus by far. They are all different in their mannerisms and abilities, and they all add a unique flavour and charm to the story, which makes them work so well together. However, because child murder is such a delicate subject, some readers may find it difficult to read about. But this contentious issue is discussed without making the audience uncomfortable.
I listened to the excellent audiobook, and Grant Love is a great fit. His accent and fluid cadence have the power to make it unforgettable. It adds a unique element to his reading, along with the occasional sound effects included at appropriate moments.
Despite the topic, I enjoyed listening to the novel and recommend it to anyone who likes to read or listen to thrillers with a psychological twist.
I rate Believe Me 5 out of 5 stars.

Disturbing Good
Wow! This is a ten star psychological thriller. it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. There are so many twists and turns. I wasn't sure who was truly guilty or what the truth was. Grant Love added special effects contributed the scary factor. His narration was brillant.

Intense
I never knew who to believe. I didn't trust anyone through the whole story. I'm in America and had to remember the story wasn't here so different laws apply.

Fabulous
This is the kind of book that leaves you affected one way or another. It changes you just a bit. I blamed several family members, until the end. They all seemed less than forthcoming, maybe because they didn't want to believe it. The best lies are grounded in some truth, and this one had me reeling. I listened to the last half of it twice to see if I missed any clues. It was more intense and creepy for me the second time around, because I knew the ending. A great thriller. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator was phenomenal and the sound effects added another creepy dimension. I highly recommend this book.

Second Guesses
Throughout the story, the author has the listener guessing whether the characters are telling the truth or lying. Loved that I was second guessing myself as I listened.
I’m not a big fan of the music and sounds effects in the background.
