About this listen

A small Central Texas city known for it's sanctity and safety is hit by storms both figurative and literal. The people of Sealy, Texas, had never before needed a hero, and when they did, there were none to be found. You'll feel like you're right in the middle of the 1984 Texas summer as theft, drugs, and violence became the norm, and four innocent residents pay the ultimate price.

Riveting. Starting this, I had no idea where it would take me. Then
the author recreated a time and place I remember. And I remember
these kids' stories as they hit our TV news and specials. The last few
chapters were stunning.
Suspense - rating a 5!

Really enjoyed it!

This is a touching story of an innocent teen learning how to live in an adult world. As an 80's kid myself, I felt I was right back there again. The characters are complex and well thought out; they all seemed like real people to me and I felt I knew them all. The writing style made me feel like I was part of this little Texas town and its community; and the vivid descriptions put clear images in my mind. Suspense, violence and and drugs give this novel a thrilling flavor and makes you want to know more.
The narration is excellent. With clear diction and different voices/accents for the different characters, the novel is a pleasure to listen to.
Special thanks to the author for sharing this novel with me.
