Twisty and turny! Highly recommend!
Snarky main character! Strong but nerdy and sweet love interest. Super heros. Gods. Twists and turns that are so well built up, you’ll never see them coming. And yet they come together perfectly! And sword fights! What more could you want? Seriously though, I loved it! 😍

Amazing book
I can’t explain in words how much i enjoy this book. It took me back to the feeling i had at 12 when i would randomly grab a book off the shelf and accidentally stumble upon my next obsession (a book as not made me feel like that in a long time)
This book at twist after twist and just when i thought it couldn’t get more intense it did! I wish i could re read it again for the first time. Cant wait to listen to the next one ❤️

Great World building
I was so pleasantly surprised by this series. If you are a big Drew Hayes or Peter Clines fan this is right up your alley. M T Zimny has the character and world building of Hayes, and the plot twists and turns of Clines, in other words she sucks you in, makes you care, then leaves you day dreaming & wanting more! it's deliciously torturous.
It's definitely a YA fiction as it's very clean both in language and sexual references (clean meaning they are non existent), which I appreciated. As such, some aspects of the main character (Sammy) are typical of YA fiction with themes of jealousy and snap decisions, but they are fitting with her age as a Sophomore in HS. all that being said, the twists in the book are actually quite surprising, and I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop. I can't actually say what's going to happen next, which makes me want to read more!!
Character development of not only our heroin, but of the other characters, is good and there are a lot of ways the story can build.
World building starts from the very beginning and only gets better as you go.
All in all it's a great fantasy read (or listen) for both teens and adults.

wow, thay performance!
the story was well written and engaging. This was a pretty sleepless day for me while I flew through this one. I've never heard this narrorator before but she did a fantastic job, including some voice artifacts I found extra fun.
If you enjoyed Deadly Education by Naomi Novak, or are a fan of Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson, this book is definitely worth checking out.

Oh. My. Gods.
Sky High. My Hero Academia. Teen Titans. And now the Apex Cycle. Four of my favorite superhero stories. A strong, coherent story. A strong female character who can sometimes infuriate you, but always make you cheer for her. I wish the sequel was already on Audible, so I can listen to it.

A great start to a new series
I am not the target audience for this book but I loved it all the same. Great charecters and great story. While listening I could tell the love and energy put into this book. If you like Super Heros and a riveting story this is the book for you.

I LOVED THIS BOOK!
I wasn't sure how I'd feel about a superhero book, but this one sucked me in. I didn't want to stop listening and the TWISTS! I didn't see the ending coming at ALL and immediately bought book two. I highly recommend it, it's a thrilling ride.

Really enjoyable read
This was a really excellent story, there were a few moments where a character missed obvious things so that the plot could continue the way the author wanted which is a bit of a pet peeve of mine. they were completely forgivable moments and sometimes we just have to suspend or disbelief a little bit.
most disappointing part was I thought the second book was already out and now I have to wait.
I will definitely be keeping my eye out because this was very a great story.
