About this listen
Dear Listener, have you ever wondered what happened after Pemberley?
Playing Miss Bennet by Rebecca Anderson
Twenty-year-old Kitty Bennet, visiting London for a season as a companion to Mrs. Gordon, is simultaneously attracted and repelled by a flirty rake. How would a girl like Kitty respond to his roughish behavior? Impossible to tell when she doesn't even understand herself. She must use their time together to practice being someone else. She's sure when she decides which of her sisters' personalities is the best fit, she'll know both who she is and what she wants. Of course, what she wants couldn't possibly be Augustus Haverford. Not with that wicked smile and that tendency to say scandalous things. Can Kitty convince herself he's all wrong for her? Or does fate have something altogether more romantic in mind?
Sisters and Second Chances by Samantha Hastings
Sixteen years since her own elopement, widow Lydia Wickham saves a young woman from running away with a scoundrel. In gratitude the father, Viscount Kingston, offers Lydia a position as chaperone. Childless and estranged from her sisters, Lydia eagerly accepts. Little did Lord Kingston or his daughter the honorable Chloe know how Lydia would shake up their dull, scholarly existence and turn their trio into a family.
The Colonel's Conviction by Sarah L. McConkie
Shrouded by his military facade and careful in love as the younger son of an Earl, Colonel Fitzwilliam has yet to find his soul-mate. When he's tasked to watch over Georgiana Darcy and her new companion—a striking young widow named Clara—he's instantly drawn in, even if he did make a muck of their first meeting. But Clara has a difficult past and a complicated future, and it will be up to the Colonel to show her that no matter how insurmountable the obstacles, hearts can open...if she's willing to take a chance on him.

In Playing Miss Bennett, I loved the dual POV and imaging what the future would have been like for Kitty. Kitty’s personal growth and self-discovery were relatable and I just thought her and August were so perfect for each other. Very cute novella.
Sisters and Second Chances was also fun to imagine Lydia’s future. I loved that in this story, her character had matured and learned from the past and was able to finally get a real happy ever after.
The Colonel’s Conviction had the most memorable meet cute, if you can call it that. It made me laugh and set the tone for the story. I liked that these were new characters altogether, but tied to Darcy and his sister.
I really enjoyed this anthology and highly recommend it.
Adorable novellas with fun Pride and Prejudice connections.

🌷Sisters and Second Chances by Samantha Hastings
Lydia's story comes after she has matured and lost Mr. Wickham to death. She has passed her mourning period and meets Thomas in quite a remarkable way.
I loved that she helps take care of and befriends Chloe, a 18-year-old young woman who has just entered society and in need of a companion, which role Lydie fills. I loved that Lydia imparts the knowledge that she has gained in the last 16 years to Chloe.
This story was unexpectedly beautiful, and I loved that Lydia got a second chance at a good life.

It was fun to see Fitzwilliam get his happily ever after. I loved the disastrous meet cute, going to see the mummy, their banter and chemistry. Feeding the ducks was also a favorite scene of mine!

I really enjoyed this collection of What-if stories from Pride and Prejudice. I definitely recommend being somewhat familiar with the story of Pride and Prejudice, either reading the book and/or watching the BBC version with Colin Firth, just to get the full scope of the story and interaction of the side characters. I highly recommend this fantastic, swoony collection of Regency era stories, especially with it being the 250th birthday of Jane Austen.
The audio done by Grace Noble is probably one of the best Regency audiobooks I've listened to (and I've listened to a lot!). She gave great diction and pronunciation, all with a lovely English accent.
Thank you to the Author and publisher for the audio review copy. All thoughts are my own.
