About this listen

The legions are but a memory, the glory of Rome only a shadow of crumbling ruins and broken walls.

A darkening tide of barbarism was washing across Britain’s shores and the lights of civilization were slowly flickering out into darkness, only kept burning by the legendary Red Dragons cavalry unit. Led by their Tribune, Arthur, who serves no kingdom but goes where the fight is hardest and most crucial, they wage desperate battles to keep back the tide. The Red Dragons ride the length of Britannia to fight the invading Saxons, Scoti and Picts, wherever they show, from across the seas or down from the Highlands.

At sixteen years old Peredur of Gwynedd has listened all his life to the stories of his father Pelinor fighting with Ambrosius Aurelianus. When word comes that his older brother has been slain in battle with the Saxons, his desire for revenge leads him to follow in his father's footsteps as a warrior, becoming a cavalryman with the Red Dragons. Along the way he may either find himself a warrior and leader worthy of Arthur or be left lying forgotten in the dust of history.

The story line and character development was fun and introduced the characters well.

Beyond the Wall by Jason Kyle is an excellent look into the medieval way of life for a military soldier fighting to keep England free from the barbarians or at least close to it. Jonathan Waters did an excellent job with the narration, you felt it you were part of the story. The story is interesting, informative and action packed. The characters and storylines are very well written. Listen to find out. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. Highly recommend

This book is well detailed in describing the main character and challenges he faces, including battles. Every chapter is enjoyable to read and listen to, definitely not a dull book.
I thoroughly enjoyed how the reader used different voices to distinguish each character and how he truly captured their personality and background. It brought the book more to life than using just my own imagination.

Entertaining and definitely not a dull book
