About this listen

The New York Times best seller that tells the true story of the life of Major Dick Winters, the man who led the Band of Brothers in World War II.

In every band of brothers, there is always one who looks out for the others.

They were Easy Company, 101st Army Airborne - the World War II fighting unit legendary for their bravery against nearly insurmountable odds and their loyalty to one another in the face of death. Every soldier in this band of brothers looked to one man for leadership, devotion to duty, and the embodiment of courage: Major Dick Winters.

This is the riveting story of an ordinary man who became an extraordinary hero. After he enlisted in the army’s arduous new Airborne division, Winters’s natural combat leadership helped him rise through the ranks, but he was never far from his men. Decades later, Stephen E. Ambrose’s Band of Brothers made him famous around the world.

Full of never-before-published interviews and Winters’s candid insights, Biggest Brother is the fascinating, inspirational story of a man who became a soldier, a leader, and a living testament to the valor of the human spirit - and of America.

Don’t know what more can be said about Dick Winter’s. The “Band of Brothers” book was great and this Biography was better. We got to hear the whole story as seen through his eyes. This is a great biography.

Better than “Band Of Brothers”

This story is the most comprehensive story of Major Dick Winters that I found to date. Each book I listen to on the Major reveals it's own unique element I was previously unaware, but they are all common in the sense they all reveal his amazing character that is so influential.

I have read and listened to a number of WW books. My father was in the Merchant Marine in the Pacific. Every time I read a book, I think about the personal sacrifice that our soldiers gave in WW II. Conditions that are unimaginable. I did see the Band of Brothers and thought it was wonderful. A friend suggested I listen to this book, as it will be a moving experience I have just completed and I am speechless. Dick Winters is a national hero in my mind. HIs commitment, Leadership and sacrifice is a model for the youth of the future. I listened when I ride my road bike, there were times that I would have to stop and cry for his sacrifice. This should be required reading for EVERY, new person joins the service. This is the standards that soldier should live by. God Bless all of Easy Company, alot of those men who did not make it back, and we should remember all of them in our prayers. I don't believe I will ever find a WW II book like this. Special thanks to Stephen Ambrose and Tom Hanks.

Required reading for ALL Americans

I love the video series, the book Band of Brothers, Beyond Band of Brothers by Major Winters, as well as many of the autobiographies associated with this series. This book is the same information, but scattered amongst countless and continuous "Jesus Christ, GD, GD, Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ, GD, GD, GD..." I enjoyed the other books, but not this one at all.

Not as good as others in the series.
