Books one through four: the Accidental Engagement series

The story of Charles and Jane will blow your mind.

Charles Bentley was always due to inherit his late father’s fortune, and he loved to boast about it. He was the typical son of privilege with more money than sense and an appetite for partying that was rarely satisfied - although he did try his hardest. But there’s one thing standing in his way of this fortune; a stipulation that states he must marry before his 25th birthday. With no plans of settling down but every intention of the getting the money, a plan forms in his head.

Jane Miller’s world is turned on its head when Charles asks her to marry him. She doesn’t know the man, and with what she’s seen of him so far, she’s not sure that there’s much to like. But he’s willing to pay off all of her college debt, and that’s an offer that Jane just can’t bear to refuse. With his own family determined to see him fail, and Jane fighting her own morals to help him, will they succeed? Or will the secrets of the rich come back to haunt them?

Very inconsistent, and the reading didn't help.

somewhere between book one and book two it seems like a completely different person wrote the book. And it seems like if it was the same person they needed to go back and reread book 1 for books, two and three etc. to make sense. for example, at the end of book 1. Helena calls. James about her sister being missing and then suddenly Helena is at Charles's place looking for her. And then between the middle of book two to book three. Helena and Jane's personalities are completely switched and it makes it really difficult to continue reading/ listening. The way Jane gets over the situation with the Bentley family it's just goes too far. It becomes difficult to listen to because you just want to slap her. She completely goes from being quite independent in book one to being a complete mess in book 3. It's a complete 180 on the character's personality and I can get what the author was trying to do behind it, but she went way too far in trying to make her emotional over the situation. It made the story very difficult to listen to. I honestly if I didn't pay for the four books I probably would have stopped at book two.

The performance of the book sounded low quality and the way that the men sounded a little more macho and book one and suddenly felt kind of cheesy and booked two and three and four was difficult to listen to and the way that she read their voices etc. which is not good. And I hate to sound so picky. but I've read and listened to over 300 of these books in my library and I have to say this was the most difficult one to listen to.

Narration was AWFUL

If this series was read by narrator of book 3, the entire series would've been so much better! This series doesn't REALLY pull you in until the end of book 4. Now I'm in search of book 5 and pray it's narrated well!

Sooo hard to listen to…

I thought book one’s narrator was bad…but oh my! Book two is ridiculously horrible…so bad I don’t even care to finish the rest of them…the names were pronounced different from book to book…the different voices that the narrator made was completely stupid…they didn’t even match the characters personality from book one to book two…good grief…

mediocre book with horrendous narration.

I generally hate not finishing a book once started and rarely find issue doing so. That being said, my gods and goddesses (and any other diety that wants to join in my exasperation)! This was unbelievably painful to get through. The story itself is only okay... Akin to a clickbate article that marginally piqued your interest while scrolling... The author may not be an experienced one and may get there... maybe. But the narrators! Oh man! They were atrocious! This inflection in the sentences structure were constantly off. Tying that in with the "over-acting" and this was just a giant, sad mess of disappointment.

Disappointing

Book Two narration is awful and childlike. Also, chapter 3 is a repeat of 2.
Trying to get through it.
