About this listen

An urgent call from Stacie Maroni’s friend, Meredith, interrupts the sleuth’s New Year's Eve plans for a romantic evening. Instead, she and Detective Michael O'Hare rush to the country club only to find it is too late to help their friend. Not quite how they wanted to bring in the New Year. A fully booked event for the annual bash translates into an overabundance of suspects and a variety of motives.

Never one to back away from a challenge, Stacie's sleuthing skills kick in. When a wannabe reporter blogs about the murder and implies that Stacie knows the killer’s identity, the investigation takes a dangerous turn. Stacie’s faced with secrets and memories, along with hints of organized crime lurking in the shadows.

Cozy Mystery

Another small town cozy mystery by this author. The flow, storyline and characters is worth the read. The narrator did a great job.

A Fabulous Cosy Who Done It! I loved it!

One phone call changes everything … When Meredith calls Staci on New Year’s Eve, her voice sounds strangely distressed… then she drops the phone and Staci’s senses go on high alert! Before the ball can drop, Staci, O’Hare, and the characters I have come to know and love are up to their necks in “Bitterness, Betrayal and Murder”! I loved …every …single …minute of this beautifully narrated story! The characters are magnificently drawn, completely believable and cover the full range of human likability! The plot is fully balanced with just the right amounts of mystery, suspense, tension, dry wit and humor combining to build the plot to it’s surprising, yet supremely satisfying conclusion! This story was five star perfect in every way and I loved it!

#9 in Stacie Maroni Cozy Mystery is 5 Star

#9 in Stacie Maroni Cozy Mystery is 5 Star

Ms. Maroni, corporate HR executive and amateur slueth, is back. While I have read 1-8, of this series, it had been a long time. So, I think this book would work well as a stand alone. A local wealthy socialite is strangled at the swanky country club's New Year's Eve soiree, after making a last minute plea for life to our heroine. Many suspects are identified, but as the list is narrowed our main character is repeatedly endangered. There are lots of entertaining twists and turns. Narrator is a great vocal fit for lead character and performs clearly defined vocal charaxterizations.

Good quick listen

Bitterness, Betrayal & Murder: A Stacie Maroni Mystery, Book 9
By: Christa Nardi
Narrated by: Naomi Rose-Mock

4 STARS

I need to say this is the 9th book in the series but I haven’t read or listened to the others. I felt somewhat behind in the overall plot line. This book was good, the characters interesting. It makes me want to go back and start at the beginning of the series.
A good quick listen.

The narration was done by Naomi Rose-Mock. She brought the characters to life.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Murder, mystery and suspense

Bitterness, Betrayal and Murder is the 9th Stacie Maroni Mystery by Christa Nardi. New Year’s Eve is interrupted for Stacie and Michael when Meredith calls, screams then the line goes dead. Unfortunately, it’s too late when they find Meredith dead at the Country Club. There are plenty of suspects, an obnoxious blogger, and Stacie’s in danger again. I love this series and the way the characters have matured and interact with each other. The narration by Naomi Rose-Mock is wonderful. She creates unique voices for the characters and brings them and the story to life.

Another Murder is Solved

If you like murder mysteries, you should check out this plus her other books. Christa Nardi provides a murder and all the twists that are experienced while the police and Stacie try and solve it. Great plot development and characters.

Looking forward to her next book.

Provocative Murder Mystery

I was entertained by the 9th book in the "Stacie Maroni Mystery" series. Meredith phoned Stacie, but after a brief scream, the call was disconnected. Stacie asked her friend, Detective Michael O'Hare, to drive her to the country club where Meredith made the call, only to find that Meredith had been murdered. The "Stacie Maroni Mystery" series has long been a favorite of mine. I liked the characters that populated this series and their interactions. I've enjoyed all the various mysteries. I hope that there will be more stories featuring these characters in the future. Naomi Rose-Mock's narration was great, as her performance gave a voice to the different characters and portrayed the ambiance of the story well. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

A New Years I hope to never experience

This is the ninth in the Stacie Maroni Mystery series written by Christa Nardi. This series can be read in any order but I prefer reading them in succession.

Stacie receives an urgent call from Meredith on New Year’s eve. She and O’Hare rush to the country club to help Meredith but they are too late.

I thoroughly enjoy this series. It is well-written and crafted. I always learn something new. It is refreshing to see the love interest detective concerned about the sleuth and respects her input. Michael O’Hare has no issues seeking Stacie’s perspective on situations he is investigating. He is concerned for welfare and they work through it together.

The narrator does an excellent job.

I liked the book and recommend it if you like strong female characters.

Action and suspense

As I listened to this I was sure Stacey would end up in the hospital or the morgue. She had so many close calls, vandalism, and a crazed blogger on her like white on rice. The blogger made erroneous and inflammatory statements about the murder and other people. This was extremely suspenseful. I enjoyed it. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest opinion. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters and story to life.

The story is believable

This story has all the elements for a great mystery and the story was believable, but lacking in suspense. The story was good enough that I listened all the way to the end. I like the characters and have listened to several other of Christa's books and enjoyed listening. It is a clean mystery with no sex or swearing and I do recommend giving it a listen.

The narration, for me, was hard to follow at times because she talked really fast and her voice is rather high pitched making it hard to understand. I tried slowing it down but then it went too slow. I like Christa's books and her writing style but this narrator is not for me. I'll read the book instead.
