About this listen

Set in Laguna Beach, California, during the early 1980s, a time before political correctness, this story unveils the dark underbelly of a seemingly idyllic town. Vivid descriptions, dark humor, colloquial language, and gritty dialogue create an atmosphere of mystery and intrigue as power, corruption, and murder come to light. This book has it all: shocking imagery, love, a touch of lust, humor, pain, unforgettable characters, and a gripping plot. Listeners will be captivated and won't want the story to end.

The Narrator brought the characters to life, his voice was easily understood, the book held my attention all the way through to the, with all its twists and turns. The ending was a complete surprise to me. The story line had Romance, light hearted humor, murder and intrigue. It covered a great deal of Life in Laguna as it was in days gone by. Great story

Interesting cast of Characters.

Great story. Kept wondering who the murderer could be. Loved how the narrator changed his voice slightly to give each character a life of their own. Highly recommend.

The story itself was okay. If you are looking for drama and suspense I would say this would be a choice for you. It was very descriptive and fast paced.
The negative for me was the narrator. His switching tones, attempted accents and his exaggerated tones were very difficult to tolerate. As an avid audiobook fan, I would have taken another route having had to listen to this particular narrator. Decide for yourself.

Many twists and turns
