About this listen
Suit up. Lights down. Cardinal is in town, and it’s time to party.
There’s only one place in town everyone wants to be. Club Cardinal is a pop-up nightclub, casino, and strip bar. It serves one purpose: to please. No matter how forbidden your desires, or carnal your needs, the staff of Cardinal will provide. For a price.
Denna is down on her luck. She’s just walked out on the latest back-alley strip joint she called work; her brother is an alcoholic and homeless. Neither of them want to admit to their parents just how badly their lives are going. And Denna just found a decapitated corpse. But it’s okay; she’s just scored a lucrative job at the hottest joint in town.
Frau Mann, Cardinal’s elusive owner, didn’t have a normal childhood. Mentally and physically manipulated by her father in the twisted halls of one of Germany’s most notorious detention camps, she grew up believing that the world would be hers. And piece by piece, finger by finger, Angela Mann has built a business empire envied the world over.
Cardinal didn’t get its reputation by being an average haunt. You can have beautiful men and beautiful women. You can have drugs; you can gamble. You can have blood. You can take blood, and flay flesh.
Cardinal is open in town and hunting for a new crop. It’s time to reap the harvest.

The 13 chapters of The Art of War, each devoted to one aspect of warfare, were compiled by the high-ranking Chinese military general, strategist, and philosopher Sun-Tzu. In spite of its battlefield specificity, The Art of War has found new life in the modern age, with leaders in fields as wide and far-reaching as world politics, human psychology, and corporate strategy finding valuable insight in its timeworn words.

Story
Lucas knows the perfect night entails just three things: video games, wine, and pad thai. Peanuts are a must! Other people? Not so much. Why complicate things when he’s happy alone? Then one day the apartment board, a vexing trio of authority, rings his doorbell. And Lucas’s solitude takes a startling hike. They demand to see his frying pan. Someone left one next to the recycling room overnight, and instead of removing the errant object, as Lucas suggests, they insist on finding the guilty party. But their plan backfires. Colossally.

horror, suspense, and a little history
very articulate narrator with a good voice. The story was good with a good twisted plot. The story jumps to different view points so you get a good detailed account of the situation.

Disturbingly well done
Have to admit...maybe due to the tame nature of most of my other recent readings/listens this listen has some shocking parts. Truly had me wondering where the author did their research, lol. On a serious note, this truly addresses how preferences for certain types of entertainment are looked at.
The author did a great job making sure the back story on each character was well defined and made sense. Be warned, this is not a read for you if you can't hande graphic descriptions of sex and very well described torture, murder, dismemberment and strong language.
Good read.

What a horrifyingly great book!!
Trigger warning: there is lots of gore and violence in this book! So check your triggers before reading or listening to this book!
I finished this book in a day and a half! I loved it from beginning to end! Definitely a page turner that has you on the edge of your seat, waiting to see what happens next! This is a great book to read during spooky season if you like horror/thriller type books! I highly suggest you pick up a copy of this book from your favorite retailer of books!

horrendous atrocities
Horrific, dark , deadly, and twisted. I thought it was bad at the beginning, but the more I listened the darker it became. I had to listen to it in piece, because it was too overwhelming all at one time. I needed to cleanse my mind after listening to this vileness. It left the listener without one frission of hope by the end of it all. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.

Worst narration
This narrator was clearly never educated at the most basic level. The embarrassing amount of regular mispronounced words was laughs. Very distracting to hear such laughable interpretations of simple words.

Nazi Owned Night Clubs Are Bad News
I really liked the concept of the story, wasn’t a huge fan of the execution. There were a number of things that I felt didn’t quite go the way I expected and where a bit of a letdown. I don’t want to ruin anything, but I felt like the buildup to the ending overshadowed the ending itself. It felt rushed and not natural and left me feeling like there wasn’t much of a point.
I liked Denna as the main character as I felt she was a perfect fit for that role. I felt that her story was fleshed out enough that I was able to understand her, even though I thought she was quite a dumb individual. A lot of the things she did I felt were cheap and required too much explanation from the authors as far as her motives for those actions. As for Frau Mann, she was interesting and a twisted individual, but given her childhood it isn’t surprising. The rest of the characters really didn’t leave much of an impression on me.
As far as horror goes I felt this was fairly tame. I feel like this type of story was been told before and done in a more graphic and gruesome way. I think there were a lot of little changes that could have made a good book a great one. I liked the club and thought that there was a lot of potential that was untapped. By the time I reached the end of the book I just felt let down.
Sharon Robbins has a great voice for narration. I really liked her narrating voice but struggled with some of her character voices. The male characters all sounded constantly angry and some of the accents didn’t sound right. I think I would have preferred if there were no character voices included at all.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
