The T55 hove into view then stopped, moved, stopped, moved as it jerkily attempted to negotiate the corner. It was obvious that whoever was driving could only manage the tank along straight roads! Eventually, after about six attempts, the tank made the turn and began the slow approach along the road. Another tank followed on, then a third, both having taken the corner with no more skill than their mate. Where were the infantry? There were none to be seen? “Stand by! Stand by!” I shouted at the top of my lungs……… .......We’d arranged that one of the other teams, hidden in a building across the road would be first to open fire. When they did it would be our cue to unload. I shifted my position slightly to adjust my view through the loophole. The tanks were close now, the lead one being no more than thirty metres from where I was waiting….”
