About this listen

Based on the true story of Countess Elizabeth Bathory, perhaps one of the greatest mass murderers of all time. She was a woman who tortured and killed over 600 young women for their blood.

Too noble to be executed, in 1610 the 'Bloody Lady of Cachtice' was bricked up in a set of rooms in her own castle in Slovakia. Why then should the young and beautiful Katya be at the castle door attracting the close attention of the gaoler and wanting a job looking after Countess? Is it revenge or some more ghostly visit from Bathory's past? And if she should help her escape....

Pull on your headphones and Horror-fi yourself. 'Revolutionise' is an often overused word; however, this is what Horror-Fi achieve with their new recording technology/process for recording audio drama. Horror-fi’s highly innovative production technique allows you the listener to immerse your aural senses in the very heart of the drama. Listen through head phones and experience the ultra vivid world the 3D Audio recording technique creates inside your mind.

Critic reviews

"This is another type of experience, another level for audio drama, I have listened to plenty of excellent audio drama by the BBC but Horror-fi makes audio drama even better." (Elena Agullo Bernabeau)

The story is okay, but like most if Marty Ross’ work it does get a bit rambly. I do really like the idea of this story.

Interesting performance

Pretty slow and uninteresting for a ghost story. I didn’t mind the presentation, which is simply more like a play. Overall, not worth the money.

Boring for a ghost story

i had a really hard time inderstanding what the characters were saying. Between the volume and accents i was lost.
