About this listen
Bite first, ask questions later: Samantha's on the case!".
Detective Samantha Nightshade's life takes a turn for the supernatural when her boyfriend Damon reveals his true nature—by turning her into a vampire. But the undead don't get sick days, and Samantha is thrust into a high-profile murder case the very next morning.
Art collector Albert Rothschild is found dead in a gallery, drained of blood with telltale fang marks on his neck. As Samantha investigates, she must navigate her new nocturnal nature while keeping her partner in the dark. With each clue, she's drawn deeper into a shadowy world where art, murder, and vampires collide.
Can Samantha crack the case before her dual identities unravel? Or will her newfound thirst for blood compromise everything she's sworn to protect? In this witty, fast-paced supernatural thriller, Samantha must solve the murder, master her vampiric powers, and save humanity—all before the next full moon rises.
Bloodstone is a deliciously dark and humorous tale that proves sometimes the best detectives have a little bite to their bark.

Story
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

An amazing book
I read this book an e-book and decided to get it in Audible. It was an amazing experience hearing the story read to you rather than reading it yourself, but both ways were great possibly going to get it in physical copy due to. I love the series and the author isn’t an exceptional writer. I love the storyline. It was amazing the character Was outstanding love how she takes charge and makes the best of what happened to her and the world building that was just terrific. The story flows so wonderfully. The book really isn’t as long as most books are, but it’s the norm. It was a definite page. Turner must read for me. I really love, vampire, gentry, and paranormal and I would highly recommend this book and the series in any other books by this author to everyonethe narration was terrific the way she talked as the characters and brought the story alive. Her voice was very pleasant. I think the author chose the right narrator thanks for the terrific read. Looking forward to hearing all the other books and Audible to seeing as I have already read them in e-book.

Quirky, Paranormal Mystery!
This is a fun, quirky mystery with a helping of humor, and a pinch (or two) of paranormal!
Samantha Nightshade is a newly turned vampire thrust into the fun world of vampire politics, while also trying to solve a crime that looks suspiciously like a vampire did it. She manages to keep her sarcastic personality and witty remarks even with her new aversion to light.
The story is pretty fast paced, and I'd have liked if it went into a little more detail because somethings are glossed over more. Though, this is a short story/novella, so it makes sense that things would be quick. But I do look forward to learning more about the paranormal world the author created in future books.
This is a quick story (even faster if you listen at 1.15x speed) with a good narrator. The narrator is new-to-me, and I hope she gets to narrate the rest of the series!

New Paranormal Life
Short and intriguing, this story had a murder mystery that not only was enticing but was shocking in the connection to her new life. Transitioning into a world where the supernatural politics complicate everything made this an interesting read and great first book to start off this series.
Audiobook Review:
The narration was an unexpected one, but it was done with unexpected nuances that I thought were great. It was an easy and short listen that was interesting as well as enjoyable.

Delightful!
Ash Aarrestad did a wonderful job narrating this fun vampire detective novel. Her vocal characterizations were varied and delightful, especially that of Victor. I had read the book prior to listening to this audiobook and was able to glean even more from the storyline as I listened to Ms. Aarrestad narrate. Cheri Myst did a great job writing her book, and Ms. Aarrestad brought it life (or undead as Samantha Nightshade might say) with her narration.

Quick, enjoyable listen
This was a fun and quick listen. I related so much to the internal monologue and sass of the fmc and her go with the flow attitude. Despite the short length of the book, I connected with her situation. And I was pleasantly surprised by the overall flow and how well it worked. Honestly, I would love to see the book, and the series, fleshed out more. Such a great concept.
Ash Aarrestad did a 𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗹 job bringing Samantha Nightshade to life, along with the rest of the characters. And can I just say that the accents were 𝘰𝘯 𝘱𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘵.
