Best book in China Bayles series!

The story line in this book is very intriguing. The story in one of the best mysteries in this series. Also, the narration is wonderful. The voices are natural and flow easily through the book.

THE BEST OF THE CHINA BAYLES SERIES

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

YES. BECAUSE IT VERY INTERESTING. GIVES AN INSIGHT INTO THE OLD PLANTATION SYSTEM. YOU CAN SEE THE SPANISH MOSS HANGING FROM THE TREES AND FEEL THE HUMIDITY STANDING IN THE AIR MAKING YOUR CLOTHES DAMP, AND HEAR THE GHOST FROM THE PAST THRU THE WHOLE STORY. IF THEY COULD BE TRUSTED TO FOLLOW THE STORY EXACTLY IT WOULD MAKE A FANTASTIC MOVIE!

Who was your favorite character and why?

PEARL & AUNT PETULIA. BECAUSE THEY WERE WOMEN OF ACTION. THEY DIDN'T HAVE MUCH POWER IN THE TIMES THEY LIVED IN, BUT THEY TOOK DECISIVE ACTION IN THE MOST POWERFUL WAYS THAT THEY COULD. AND I LOVE THEM AND APPLAUDE THEM FOR IT.

Which scene was your favorite?

WHEN IT WAS FINALLY REVEALED ABOUT ALL THE PAST ASSOCIATIONS BETWEEN THE INVOLVED FAMILIES AND THE ACTION THAT AUNT PETULIA TOOK IN REVENGE FOR CLANCY HAVING ORDERED HER HUSBAND KILLED.

If you could rename Bloodroot, what would you call it?

I ACTUALLY LOVE THE NAME. PEARL'S & PETULIA'S JUSTICE IS APPROPRIATE, BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE THE MYSTERIOUS SOUND THAT "BLOODROOT" DOES.

Any additional comments?

FANTASTIC STORY. I THINK IT IS DEFINATELY MS. ALBERTS BEST IN THE CHINA BAYLES SERIES I'VE HEARD.

terrible

I like this writer, I grew up in the south and can identify with the characters, but for some reason the author must have decided she had to make this book more controversial. It ceased to be a cozy mystery at some point.
