Durch einen irischen Mittelsmann beliefert das Syndicat sogar die IRA. Dann jedoch wird 1922 der deutsche Außenminister Walter Rathenau erschossen, und eine Spur führt auch zum Syndicat. Für Franz Sass wird die Sache allmählich zu heiß. Wenig später steht er selbst unter Mordverdacht.
